After posting I am usually returned to 'All Forums' and not the one that I just posted in, which I should be. I have experienced it doing this correctly thrice during the month that I have spend here. In the left corner is the 'forum menu' which, at the moment, says 'All Forums - The Candlekeep Web Site - Site Content'. Clicking any of these these does not help (they return me to 'All Forums').
Occasinally I cannot log in. When I close the window and start Explorer once more and enters the forum, it suddenly does so automatically.

Hi Echon
Hmmmmmm, I cant say ive ever had this problem or heard of it before. Especially as all the expanded links on the left which you refer to are all generated from the forum Id's.
I suggest you delete any cookies for the site and log in from scratch. This should clear up any preset logon problems.
Hope this helps.

Jay,
On the returning to the 'all forum', I'm seeing the same thing. Originally one was returned to the thread one posted in. Nowadays the return address is the main page. Not that this is a problem for me, but I had noticed this.
I cannot see the other issues Echon is facing...

I was begging to consider that it might be due to some software or another...do you use ZoneAlarm or TweakXP or anything similar?

Well I cant say ive experienced any of the above problems myself, but when the forum first opened I did have a problem with the automatic signon. I contacted the webmaster directly and he suggested deleting the cookie for the forum and after that it reset itself and worked fine.
As to your point about not returning to the topic to which you posted, I still do get that happening, it never returns me to the main forum page (?!?!) It must all be down to personal computer settings (i.e. cookies) or something like that. |

Frey's head pops up in the dooropening and she asks: "Anything wrong with the cookies, sirs?" |

Hmmm... I did clean up the cookies (no, not Frey's) in my laptop (easy to shake the crumbs out - try doing that with a tower ). However I'm still being re-directed to the 'general page' after making a post. Not that this is a problem... |

One should not eat while writing your scrolls. These crumbs really will go anywhere, and as the great wizzard Meurphey spoke 'when you least expect it and where you'll have the largest neusance (sp?) from it'.
never eat cookies above your keyboard, Mumadar. And don't shake our towers... It's no fun when you're afraid of heights if the floor shivers when you're in a tower. |

Greetings all,
I was wondering if perhaps the masters of Candlekeep might be able to help me with a strange set of happenstance. It seems when I go to reach for a scroll from the shelves of this illustrious institution one time out of five or so I pull down the scroll to see this cryptic inscription upon it:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Could not use ''; file already in use.
/forum/inc_header.asp, line 114
are there evil spirits at work here?

Hi Artalis
Dont worry too much about the above error message, simply click the "Back" button on your browser and resubmit and it should work fine. The error occurs on those split-nanoseconds when a forum file is accessed by another member at the very same time.
Most other "JET Database Engine errors" can be resolved by clicking "Back" and resubmitting. If anyone has a persistant error then please email the details to me at: webmaster@candlekeep.com
Hope this isnt causing anyone too much of an inconvenience. |

Just hitting the F5 key or clicking the 'Refresh Page' icon also works to get rid of this nasty little insect... too bad it keeps coming back...
I wonder if Alundo and Tethoril let these bugs loose to keep us scribes busy... |
