Purely out of desperation, I have put this topic here... from the lack of a better idea on the placement... I thought this was closest forum... Ok, the question is not related all that much to the Realms, but is, let's say, friendly to them. Is there a section in the Candlekeep forums for classifieds section, where members might announce their wereabouts (in the real world) and seek other people out within their area? I have tried looking for such a forum.. but could not find one. I thought it might be useful, especially for someone wanting to play, but having no one with. I know there is a classified board in the Wizards' forums, but it is hard to search specifically for only forgotten realms gamers... Well, anyways, I just wanted to ask the moderators, or anyone, what they thought of having a classified section in the forums. I think it would be useful .

I know!! I went to the high school and put up flyers saying that I wanted intelligent boys and girls for heavy Role-Play, and the next thing I know, the police are 'escorting' me out of the building...
Just kidding, but I do feel for you Moonharp, I am in much the same boat as you are. |

Thats a great idea! I just moved a couple months ago here to TN and don't really know anyone but my gilfriend and her friends and family... But then again Candlekeep isn't a HUGE forum (which is a good thing! keep all the riffraff out ) so I don't know how many people would actually find someone close enough to be able to play. But still its a great idea |

Thanks f0r your support. By the way, Wood Elf Ranger, I understand what you are trying to say:

Therefore, imagine my surprise, when I was just looking through some members specifics, and I found two just out of Vacouver, Canada, where I live, both of them pretty much in the same problem as I... I was surprised that there were people here from the same city, let alone looking for players... therefore my idea still stands firm... but that is for the Mods to decide. |

While your idea does have some validity to it Moonharp, remember, you can just as easily find local players in Canada (who also frequent Candlekeep) by using their individual email addresses that are part of their user profile here. Simply contact them, and I'm sure you'll find someone willing to help.
I'm fairly certain that Alaundo has already said something to this effect in the not-to-distant past, when another new scribe brought the topic of a "classified" forum up.

Ok, ok, I get the point... and thanks Alaundo for the only serious reply I got on the page. Well, if anything else, at least you guys had fun, even though my suggestion was a serious one. |

No offense was intended... I was only tossing out a bit of humor while seeing what the response would be. Truly, I do think it a good idea. But considering the relative size of the forums, using the WotC forums (as bad as they may be!) for this purpose would prolly be a better idea.
Further, if you've a game store in your area, you could try there. I know a lot of game stores, including my local one (Melbourne, FL) have bulletin boards for gamers to try to connect with other gamers. |

Thanks... I understand your reasoning... and yes, now that you mention it, putting an ad on a bulletin board in my local hobby shop - which is very good, and has its regular patrons - would be a great idea. Thanks... I think that is probably the best chance I have, I guess. |

*ponders* I guess I'm the envy of everyone then. As my wife to be is an FR fan aswell She also DM's for me, never complains that she wants to play (she seems to prefer DM'ing, doesn't wish to play at all), has a great imagination, and, best of all, is very pretty. *puffs out his chest* yeah... got lucky I did, and am indeed very thankful for it

Karesch: Having your Lady be DM is a real bonus! So when's the big day then? Got your penguin suit all sorted I hope? Just remember, it's the lady's day, you're just part of the furniture when it comes to the wedding
My partner (11 years and still going strong) is only slowly starting to want to play NWN (I keep telling her how great it is networked). She's not much into PnP games but loves a good game of Iluminati or Arkham Horror (board games). Tried to get her to play D&D but all the rule books intimidated her which is ironic in a way as she's a medical doctor and used to reading weighty tomes.
Anyway, how come no one is interested in signing up for the opportunity of a lifetime? I put up a serious add and people think it's amusing (OK there was a bit of tongue in cheek humour there as well) but I actually was trying to see if anyone was interested in helping getting this dream of setting a production company up and running. Come people, get fired up! Embrace the future! You know you want to

No set date, few years off, still got a few things we wanna complete first. However, it's on it's way. Thanks in any case, and yes, having her as my DM is fabulous.

BRILLIANT!
I think we have a definate chance here lads & lasses to put together, at least a concept that may be worth turning into a show at a later point.
