Given the 'seemingly old age' of the board in general, I'm sure most of you will remember that toon series of Dungeons and Dragons that used to air way back in the days of my youth.
I've recently come into possession of these series and am enjoying them a lot. "Gnarly!" - it kills me. Anyway, I like the premise and since I'm designing a campaign around them, just for fun, does anyone know the stats of the weapons they were given by Dungeon Master, or for that matter, if they don't exist, does anyone want to take a whack at creating some stats for me?

Wow... Now that brings back some memories. I do not remeber all of the weapons, but some of them seemed pretty powerul (like the bow that needed no arrows). I'll need to search for a list and see if I can refresh my memory.
On a sort-of-off-topic vein, it is interesting to note the age of most players. The people who played the game when it came out are getting older (I've played for almost 18 years myself), so you will find that they average age of D&D players is in their twenties and thirties.
The day is fast approaching when Grandad whoops little Timmy's butt at Soul Calibur X. |

Unfortunately, I don't think that cartoon series reached my shores ... although the terrible (and much later) movie did.

The cartoon is being released via DVD in some regions if you wish to see what you missed. |

I've given this one a bit of thought... This is based entirely on what I recall from the show.
Diana's staff: Uh, make it like a telescoping staff +2 or +3. Give it some sort of striking quality, mayhaps, and something that enhances Dexterity (or at least jumping and tumbling).
Sheila's cloak: Cloak of invisibilty? Cloak of elvenkind? I've not seen the show since I knew there was a D&D game, so I don't remember the exact qualities of her cloak.
Bobby's club: One of the more powerful items, I think. Make it like a club +3, with some sort of striking enhancement... I'd also add in the ability to do something like an earthquake spell, maybe once a day... If there's a similar spell that does less damage, I'd go with that, instead.
Eric's shield: Oh, say a shield +2, that can cast wall of force once a day, maybe more often.
Presto's hat: Now this is a tricky one. He used his hat to cast spells... So it'd be something unique, maybe even minor artifact level. Say, it grants the user some sort of spellcaster bonus. After some period of attunement, the user can use the magic of the hat to replace material spell components.
Hank's bow: Another seriously tricky one. A bow +2 or +3 to start with. I'd say it could fire like 20 or 30 "phantom arrows" per day -- these arrows are energy weapons that appear when the weilder makes the motion of drawing a bowstring. The arrows act like +2 or +3 weapons for purposes of getting past damage reduction and magic resistance and all that rot, but do normal arrow damage. Also, maybe for trading in an number of arrows on a one arrow equals one level ratio, the arrows can instead be specific spells. I seem to recall him doing a couple of light-related spells, and I seem to also recall a net (call it a web, maybe?).
I'd have to sit down and watch the shows again to get a better idea of the capability of these weapons. It's been a long, long time since I saw those shows -- maybe 20 years. 'Twas long before I knew a thing about D&D, that's for certain.
And I know that what I gave is some powerful stuff, as a whole. Do keep in mind that these were the current version of the "Weapons of Power", and these weapons were enough to hold back a big bad dude who was only scared of one other critter: Tiamat. |

Well met!
I recently created a magical bow based upon the one in the cartoon. It was basically just a variation on the theme of the wand of magic missles, though in the shape of a bow rather than a wand, and with a somatic "command" rather than a verbal.

It seems I'm going to be spending all my time thanking the great Hamster, I'm indebted to you once more.
Those stats are perfect, but if more people want to comment that is cool too, since it might be good for the older players to remember the ancient days as it were.
The one I was having the most difficulty with was Presto's hat since it was used almost exclusively as a device for comic relief. Might even be better suited to an Ebberon setting where it could deliver more technology as in the case of the series. It's tricky to separate DnD rules and creative license from the show. The rest seem to be spot on though! THANKS!

No George, it did actually air in Australia as I remember watching it as I was getting ready for school (now we're going back...)
More recently, I have seen it on free-to-air television about 3-4 years ago in the morning, ironically as I was getting my own kids ready for school.
No idea who has the rights to it in Oz though. Managed to pick up an original Video containing three episodes at a market in Melbourne |

Here in Brazil it is in television actually, too. But, we never could see the last episode. The legends about say that the enemy is san of the master of mages, that they couldn't go home, etc. If you please, call me the true, what happens in the end of Dungeons and Dragons (here the translator did a wrong, we know this cartoon as "Caverna do Dragao", Cave of Dragon would be in english) |

Thanks Sirius, I did manage to get her to buy me a Raymond E Feist book once and that was pushing it. I suppose you could say that it was a D+D book though. Anyway back to topic before Alaundo comes and slaps our wrists. Mind you he doesn't seem to get out as much anymore, must be the new wife making him stay at home. Only joking Alaundo, Congratulations about your wedding. I hope it is long and happy.

I read King of Foxes months ago. Amazon is processing AE of Prince of the Blood as I write this. The novel I was talking about in my post is Exile's Return. |

I know a friend who would really be happy for Thundercats to come on DVD. He's got my vhs tapes I'd gotten off ebay 2 years ago. Grr.
That and I'd like to be able to afford them when they do!
