As I was meandering through my DMG generating random treasure, I happend upon the "Keen" weapon property. How is it that in FR Camapaign settings (Miklos) and several times in the Faiths and Pantheons, they have piercing weapons as having the keen weapon property... Whats up with that?
Because in the eratta keen can be applied to piercing or slashing weapons.
Also, in another Faerun book ther is the impact property which functions like keen for bludgeoning. If you choose, you could use that as a precedent and create a property of your own for piercing weapons if you do not have access to the errata.
Personal guess is that they want the proporty and are too lazy to come up with a new enchantment that does it for piercing. Although, judging by that fact that I'm slow, ther is already a better answer than mine.
May history live forever in the writings and stories of those who wish to tell them.
Why come up with some new name? Piercing and slashing weapons are both bladed. "Keen" is defined as "having a fine, sharp cutting edge or point."
