Ok, I have a question about the book, Elfsong. There's a book in the Harper series called Elfsong and a book in the Songs and Swords series called Elfsong. Are the two the same book but happen to be in two series, or are they two completely different books with the same name

Yes, Elfsong in the Harper series and Elfsong in the Songs and Swords series are the same book. Once the Harper series was abruptly ended, WOTC subsequently republished all of the Arilyn/Danilo/Elaith books under the Songs and Swords label with new covers.

An on topic question that has been on my mind for some time regarding this republication. On the new Elfsong cover are two individuals. Is this cover depicting Elaith and Danillo? Anyone know for certain or have theories? The reason I ask is the figure I assume to be Elaith looks like he has a beard and I thought elves were naturally smooth faced.

Thanks for your help, SiriusBlack. However, I don't know the answer to your question because I haven't gotten to read Elfsong yet. I'm sure someone around here will be glad to help you though.

Ok, I have some more questions that I thought were kinda related to the last one, so I am posting them in this topic:

1) Ok, now I know that Elfsong was written in two different series. Does that apply for the other books in the Songs and Swords series?

2) In the list of novels on the website it says that the second book of the Lost Gods Series (Fistandantilus Reborn) is a DragonLance book. Does that mean it exists in both the Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance campaign settings or what?

3) It also says that the second book in The Murder Series (Murder in Tarsis) is a Dragonlance book. Does that mean it exists in both the Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance campaign settings or what?

I can't help with your other questions. However, as far as the above #1 question, the answer is yes for the most part with one exception.

To my knowledge, the following make up the Songs and Swords series. As you can see most were part of the Harper series save for the last book:

Elfshadow (Forgotten Realms: Songs and Swords, Book1) was originally Harpers #2

Elfsong (Forgotten Realms: Songs and Swords, Book 2)was Harpers #8

Silver Shadows (Forgotten Realms: Songs and Swords, Book 3)was Harpers #13

Thornhold (Forgotten Realms: Songs and Swords, Book 4) was Harpers #16
and the last book in the Harper series. It was published in 1998.

The Dream Spheres (Forgotten Realms: Songs and Swords, Book 5)was published in 1999 and before being part of the Songs and Swords did not belong to any series to my knowledge.

I hope that helps.

The "Lost Gods" and the "Murder in ..." series were campaign setting-spanning series. They were not set (as a series) in a specific game world. The individual novels however are set in a specific game world.

For those who want to complete/collect these series from a Forgotten Realms point of view: You'll end up with a couple of books not set in the Realms.

Ok, thanks Mumadar. Do you know of any other books that are not set in a specific game world?
