Just wondering why there isn't one. There are a LOT of authors here, but none of them are Lisa Smedman and in my opinion she's a great addition to the Realms.

That's because she's not a registered member of the forums, I think. All the other authors have signed up and visit more or less regularly (except RAS, who has his own forum to deal with). |

Yes, she is a fine writer for the Realms. However, unless she's browsing using another name, a thread to ask her questions might be filled with a great many ?'s and no answers. |

Therein lies a problem. I don't recall ever seeing a means to contact this author. I do know I stumbled upon a brief page giving some information about her a couple of years ago. However, no idea if that page still exists. Additionally, I don't recall seeing an email address there when I did visit it. |

Perhaps another author here knows her email address and could give it to Alaundo to invite her over. |

Good idea although perhaps simply having another author, who has her address, mention it to her in an email would be best. That method would ensure her privacy was protected and the matter could simply be dropped if she had no such inclination to participate. |

I spent a bit of time searching out a possible home page for her. I finally found a link to one, but it was a dead link.
Perhaps there would be a way of inviting her to candlekeep through forwarding a message through WotC to her.

Well met
I attempted to locate Lisa Smedman some time ago, following her pennings in the Sembia Series, upon its release. However, neither I, nor the other number of Sembia scribes who I was in contact with and requested the information from, could locate Lisa.
Therefore, if any Realms authors know of a means to contact this scribe, then please contact me with the information. This would be greatly appreciated. |

For the same reason there isn't an "Ask Troy Denning" thread. |
"That's right, hurl back views that force ye to think by name-calling - 'tis the grand old tradition, let it not down! Anything to keep from having to think, or - Mystra forfend - change thy own views!"
Narnra glowered at her father. "Just how am I to learn how to think? By being taught by you?"
"Some folk in the Realms would give their lives for the chance to learn at my feet," Elminster said mildly. "Several already have."

I've never been too much of a Troy Denning fan myself. I picked up the Summoning and couldn't get into it. I thought it was a bit tasteless and could've used more classical elements instead of going a little too far into the bizaar. |

The Return of the Archwizards series has its share of critics who did not enjoy the work. Do a search and you'll see a few threads devoted to that series.
However, I did enjoy his work with the Cormyr series. |

Troy Denning and James Lowder were the saving graces of the Avatar Series for me. I haven't read anything else by him, though. |

The sands of Aunorauch were certainly "dry and tasteless" but The Parched Sea was one of the best Realms Novels I've read. |

The 'why isn't there a Lisa Smedman' thread is becoming the Troy Denning discussion. Please bring this around to the topic. If anyone knows how to contact Lisa please tell Alaundo or myself so we can speak to her. |

Perhaps you could email one of the people at WotC. Just go to "Contact Info" and email someone who is a pro at the books or whatever. I do it a lot. |

Thankee Valondil;
I have already sent an ethereal messenger to the head of the books department when I took on this auspicious duty here at Candlekeep. I am still awaiting his response. Hmmm, might have to follow-up... wonder if my staff of the irritated moderator will reach that far? |

Of course they may be bound by privacy laws from giving out any sort of contact info for her, or any other author.
But they may be willing to forward any sort of correspondence to her like most other places do. Then she can decide whether or not to respond to the original sender.

I hope you didn't use the "n" word in the email. If so, WOTC's filter probably automatically deleted the email. |
