Hi all.
It's 1368 DR. The land of the dales is beset by several enemies, one of which is the Zhentarim. I'm proposing a campaign that takes place in 1368 DR. Where the player characters are all Dalesmen struggling to do battle with one of their enemies: the Zhentarim!
The campaign begins in Shadowdale and will end in Zhentl Keep. The heroes will eventually confront Manshoon (prime) and defeat him.
Online Platform The game will take place on Roll20, using Discord for voice. I'm intially looking for 4 players. This campaign will be ran on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm Mountain/7:30 pm Central/5:30 pm Pacific/8:30 pm Eastern.
What you'll need: * The Dungeons and Dragons Player's Handbook (3.5). This is a D&D 3.5 campaign, if you want to join and you sold your copy, you can get it cheap from Drivethru. I have managed to get a hard copy from Drivethru.
* The Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (3e). * A copy of Complete Arcane (3.5e). Available for cheap from Drivethru (only $10). This is in case you want to play a Warmage or a Warlock. Wu-jens don't figure in this campaign. * Unearthed Arcana (3.5e). We will be using the following variant rules from Unearthed Arcana: ....* Character Traits (page 86). Note: the Regional Feats in the FRCS figure as character traits rather than feats. ....* Character Flaws (Page 91) * FRS1 the Dalelands. You might find this helpful in crafting your characters. * Magic of Faerun (3e). * Advanced d20 Magic by David and Michelle Lyons. This book, unfortunately, is super rare. However, it contains the variant spellcasting system we are using. And yes, it's better than the Vancian spellcasting system D&D normally has.
Suggested Books but not figured: * The Expanded Psionics Handbook. Psionic capable people are rare in the Realms. I'll be taking one psionic character max if at all. * Complete Warrior. This book is not strictly needed for the campaign, but Fighter characters may find it helpful (because of the tactical feats that are in it). * Complete Adventurer. Another book that may be helpful.
Character Creation Details: Beginning Level. We are starting at level 1. Abilities. Roll 4d6 six times, discard the lowest die, arrange to taste. Race. A player may choose any of the races from the FRCS or FR Player's Guide. Try to select races that have standard progression than Level Adjustments. Class. All of the classes in the PHB; Warmages and Warlocks from CA; Psions, Psychic Warriors, Soulknives, and Wilders are also allowed. Feats. We aren't adapting the Elephant in the Room/Feat Tax rules from Pathfinder. They may look good on paper, but they aren't reflective of reality. You may select feats from the FRCS, Complete Arcane, and Magic of Faerun. Equipment. Try to use the equipment as detailed from the PHB. Forgotten Realms Region. We are starting in the Dalelands. But you may come from a nearby region (Cormyr and the Moonsea for example). Traits. You may choose two traits, with one flaw. Divine and Arcane Spells. You may select spells from Magic of Faerun, Complete Arcane, the PHB, and the FRCS. Note, the spells you select may need to be converted in the Variant spellcasting rules we are using. Alignment. Try to select Good and Neutral alignments. I want to play all the bad guys.
