I cross-posted this on the Iron Crown forums for Rolemaster, but the adventure can fit in the Realms. Any place where you can have a mansion, a graveyard, and some Undead. Possibly Baldur's Gate is one idea on where to set this.

I have this idea for a Haunted House adventure. Basically the house is a mansion. Something bad happened in the past that created ghosts. The current owners of the house hear bumps in the night, strange music, and haunting. They seek to hire some people to go in and investigate. Preferably a group with experience in dealing with hauntings. Basically, ghost hunters.

Although in the real world, parapsychologists use equipment, the party will ostensibly be equipped with magic to deal with the haunting. The enemies will include:

* A few phantoms. These are D&D 2e phantoms -- psychic imprints of that something bad. Perhaps a murder that happened in the past in this house.
* A skeleton. The "living" skeleton once belonged to the murderer who murdered so many people in this house. Think of the skeleton scene from Nightmare on Elm Street part 3.
* A wraith. I'm thinking the wraith is the Murderer.
* Two ghouls who dig up the dead. See the graveyard below.

Features:
* Armor collections that move suddenly.
* A group of possessed statues that sing.
* A gypsy woman that tells fortunes with her crystal ball (probably a witch or a seer).
* A graveyard in back of the Haunted Mansion that is spooky enough.

Send in a squad of Kelemvorites, at least one of whom is a doomguide. Not only do they have speak with dead but can permanently lay to rest any undead.

I've not read it, but there's a Haunted Mansion product on the DM's guild. The people behind it have been making Domains of Dread from Disney movies (and a couple non-Disney ones).

The classic haunted mansion would have to be U1 Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh's 1st Act.

Granted, it ends up being a Scooby-Doo haunted house, which is its own genre almost. I could totally see adding some extra supernatural, but not actually combat based undead encounters in there like the aforementioned 2E phantoms.

It is the spirit of the game, not the letter of the rules, which is important. Never hold to the letter written, nor allow some barracks room lawyer to force quotations from the rule book upon you, if it goes against the obvious intent of the game.

Afterword, DMG pg 230.
