Found here. I don't get a cut or gratuity, I just put it here cause they look Kool.

It's a link!

Mod edit: Got rid of the extraneous rot in the original URL and then put it behind the URL tag.

I think I saw (and passed) on those during the original Kickstarter.

They do look cool, but not so cool that I'd buy them. In general, I'm not a fan of dice that have something in them.

Usually I go for nifty sculpts, like on a lot of Q-Workshop dice, though particularly interesting colors will sometimes catch my eye, like some of the Chessex stuff or the Mead dice from Legendary Pants. These CSI dice are a recent acquisition for me; I also had to buy a UV flashlight to go with them. (It must be noted that black is my favorite color, and I'd bought a previous set of solid black dice from another dice company and found the finish on them disappointing. These CSI dice are really cool, and I've got a couple other sets from their Upstart line)

yeah, they do look pretty neat. There are so many cool dice out now that I wish I could have had when I played more often. It sucks getting old and having more responsibility.

I prefer "fair dice" - that have precise isohedral symmetries, consistent density distribution, etc.

That is, I prefer dice which roll as randomly as possible, which have no bias or preference towards any given face(s).

I'm sure these dice are not intentionally biased. But they are also created for appearance first and function second. They are obviously imbalanced. The difference is probably inconsequential to most, but it's statistically measurable and thus unacceptable to me. I can already imagine players hoarding specific "lucky" dice which seem to roll certain values a little too often, not because of superstition or sentiment but because the dice do in fact weigh unfairly towards non-random results. "Cheating" would be too strong a word, but the notion still irks me.

I know it's a plain, dull, staid, unexciting preference. But there's just no accounting for taste.

Ayrik, that's why I like playing with casino dice; even the "used" specimens are probably fairer than brand new "ordinary" tabletop gaming dice. I do have some ornamental metal dice (one set "Dwarven" and the other set "Steampunk"), but they're more of a novelty than actual gaming implements.

Good luck finding any casino-grade d20s, lol.

I know RPG dice are not built to exacting specifications. Zocchi used to stage (in)famous demos showing worst-case extremes which were (and are) common in these cheaply-made polyhedral dice. Even consumer 3D printers can make dice with better dimensional accuracy.

But I still like to eliminate or reduce errors wherever possible instead of amplifying them. Can't help it, I studied too much math over the years.

I've heard the arguments for and against precision dice and/or the sharp-edged ones... But I've had few issues with the regular, non-precision dice. I did buy one set where the D20 didn't seem to roll above a 13 (and even getting that high was rare), but those were very much an exception. Though I've never done one of those things of testing them and recording the spread, the other dice I've used seem to be balanced enough.

Also, I've had issues with sharp-edged dice chipping. That's part of why I don't use them any more, but the biggest issue is that most of them are boring to look at. Though my wife thinks I've got too many dice, I am picky about them, and dice have to have a nifty sculpt or an interesting/unique color combination to get my attention.

I wouldn't be concerned about balance with something like these dice, too much -- the inclusion is spherical and free-floating in some liquid, so it's not like there's going to be more mass staying on one side. Some other inclusions I've seen, like little dogs, cats, and very smally rubber ducks -- those, I would be concerned about balance.

My main concerns with buying dice are if I like the look of them, and if I'll use them. I've seen plenty of really pretty dice that had a high enough price tag I'd be afraid to roll them -- which makes them useless, in my opinion. Dice are meant to be to be rolled, so if I can't roll them, I don't want them.

Fair enough. If you're playing, say, GURPS, then you are set.

Spooky. I recall a group where everyone shared the same d20 (the DM was less concerned about cheating and more concerned with everyone getting the same chances with the same chunk of plastic) and everyone struggled to roll above a 14. They should have been hitting that upper band roughly one-third of the time, but it seemed closer to five-ten percent.
