Wooley, we survived up here in Cape Canaveral. No bad flooding here so far. We are currently in the "Eye" though, so things will change shortly. Typical Cat 1 air elemental. How did you guys make out?

The power flickered a few times, and that's it. The wind was insane, last night and early this morning; I don't think I've ever heard my windows rattle like that. |

Wooly, I don't think you'd ever feature an Air Elemental with the name of Nicole.
Huh...do the generic Elementals even have names? |
Stand with anybody that stands right. Stand with him while he is right and part with him when he goes wrong.
Earth names in the Realms are more common than you may think. |

My personal theory is that the standard elemental is basically an animal. Some intelligence and self-awareness, but not so much that they would think of naming themselves. |

In 2e, they had Int 5-7 and they didn't gain much in 3e/3.5e (only hitting the average of Human-equivalent intellect at their oldest age categories); just smart enough to take basic orders and defiant enough to desire returning to their native planes, but not much beyond that. Good. Their mindset SHOULD come across as alien to most people. |

There was once a previous discussion on whether or not summoning elementals was a form of slavery. I choose to spin it as something akin to barghests: spending time on the Prime gives them experience/power enough to move up in the elemental hierarchy, becoming a new form of elemental critter that isn't subject to being summoned. I see them as being one step above a simple animal, but not quite to the point of independent intelligence.
