Hi Guys. Just wondering if there were any player modules that you thought would have been great source material for a novel?
I always thought "A Paladin in Hell" would have been made for an interesting novel....

video that goes into the backstory of the adventure A paladin in hell, that was written in 98 by Monte Cook, along with a detailed analysis of Hell's politics at that point in the 2nd edition Era. What an amazing story and how many poor players have left their last breath on their decent down to hell the past 20 years on my table.
By far one of the hardest and definitely the darkest adventure of dungeon and dragons I 've run. The actual adventure was for 2nd edition D&D but since I revisited recently I am trying to find ways to bring it back to 5th edition. |

UK2: The Sentinel and UK3: The Gauntlet were early AD&D modules. Very cheesy. Amateurish by today's sophisticated gaming standards. A standard dungeon crawl (in a ruined castle) with a standard town full of standard NPCs (questgivers, gear/services/upgrades, and goldsinks). I can't remember the names of any of the people or places or things in it.
But the basic Sentinel-vs-Gauntlet storyline (along with the way it was paced, revealed, and resolved) was more memorable and far more interesting than some of the stuff which actually did become novels. |
