Is there going to be a history given for the Darkhold? |

Yes! Ed supplied us with a definitive history of Darkhold, which cleared up a few of the contradictions that have floated around the lore over the years. So this will be available for the first time.
There is a bunch of other stuff from Ed's archives that has never before been published, including the true story of the Pereghost! |

Would you happen to know if there is one for Iriaebor in the works? That way, I can know to stop wasting my time. |

We include a gazetteer of Sunset Vale, with about a quarter page on Iriaebor. Not at all exhaustive. |

I really hope they throw out most of the Castles stuff. Those maps were terrible. Plus in 5th E everyone would be dead theoretically, minus some undeath or resurrection hijinx

Thank you. I know I am going to have to modify what I have for Iriaebor and revise what I have for Hardbuckler. The Darkhold is just too influential (good and bad) to the Vale for it to be ignored. |

IIRC, the Pereghost is still around in 5E -- though there's a question of how, or even if it's the original. |

For me, the name kinda gives it away: PeregHOST. I am betting he is like a dracolich where if he gets killed, his spirit goes in a phylactery and then it just takes over another body and makes it his own. I guess his name could be Pereg then and that is why whatever body he is in is called The Pereghost. Anyway, we will find out next month. |

Yes, we've taken the liberty of fully revising the map. You can see the cover here, and see how we've reimagined the fortress: https://twitter.com/Thrawn589/status/1286301333499281414 |

We reveal the backstory about the Pereghost which explains this - and it is direct from Ed's archives, a story that has never been published before. |

So who holds Darkhold these days? Still the cyricist Zhentarim? Given that Ed is not particularly fond of Cyric, I fear it will reveal a banite takeover |

Sounds interesting! The Zhentarim, the Cult of the Dragon and the Red Wizard are three great creations. I hope we also get information about the internal factions and their strifes. I must say the Manshoon statistics in Waterdeep: dragon heist were a bit dull. They lacked info, magical objects, etc. |

Is this going to be a physical book like a normal release or a DM's Guild product? Just curious. Also, any idea ROUGH (as in I won't personally hold you to it) of page count? (in answer for this last, I'm thinking answers like more than 60, more than 150, more than 300). |

Yes a rough page count would be nice as well as a more specific date as well. I'm keeping an eye on this thread assuming a direct link will be provided when it arrives. |

Same! I'm working from home, and access to gaming stuff is limited on the work network -- so I was leaning over to hit my own computer, download the file, pop it on a thumb drive, and then get it to my work computer so I can go ahead and peruse it. |

I like what y'all did with The Pereghost.
I am not enthusiastic about the retcon to Ashemmi, especially since it entirely invalidates a novel and impacts at least two others. If it had been me, I would have just created a new NPC rather than retcon an existing one -- especially when that retcon removes at least two other characters from existence.
I would have had a new NPC filling a similar role, and maybe have that new NPC have been personally recruited by Ashemmi, before she left the Zhents. |

I haven't seen what they did here, but I think the original retcon of Ashemmi and Semmemmon was one of the worst things ever done in Realms writing. Totally broke the great situation that was there for 20+ years - and then it never went anywhere accept like 5 sentences in novels and a couple offhand notes. It also got rid of one of the very few powerful female villains of the realms that had not been killed off in the same work introduced.
In my own realms I also re-retcon'd them both. I simply killed the lovey dovey pair off and cloned the originals. Shake and bake back to status quo :)

The history was not as detailed as I was hoping/fearing it would be so I won't necessarily have to make much of a change to the stuff I am putting together for Iriaebor. I do have a more detailed timeline of the Darkhold at the link in my signature that I had put there months ago (based on as much canon I could find while putting it together and before I even knew this was going to come out). Once I get a chance to really dig into this new information, there will be some adjustments needed in that detailed timeline. |

Ed worked with us very closely on the book. He supplied most of the lore and okayed our original ideas. |

How many pages is this supposed to be? My downloaded pdf seems to just end at page 112. Is there supposed to be a "back cover"? |

It is 112 pages. There is no back cover as we usually don't do them for PDFs |
