From over at Enworld:

https://www.enworld.org/threads/ed-greenwoods-border-kingdoms-now-available-official.671424/

A pleasant surprise. Ordered in PDF and hardcover. Surprisingly cheap shipping to Germany.

Awesome stuff. I hope Ed gets more support to make more books like these. Let's get some on Sossal, the Utter East or any other area of Faerun that hasn't gotten much coverage. Love the art I see so far, and the format is very reminiscent of the 3rd edition books, which I like very much.

I picked this up the moment I saw it. Very excited.

This is officially canon as well, correct? Not that it would matter, I’m just clarifying.

I really only have one question: Does it contain information about Aunagar the Black?

"Iriaebor is a fine city. So what if you can have violence between merchant groups break out at any moment. Not every city can offer dinner AND a show."

That name does not pop up in a search. I don't recall the name, however. Was it a 3e era name? If so, that would explain why with the 100 year gap.

It is a 2e name from Dragon magazine 232, Worms of the North: Balagos. It has this to say:

"the firestaff of Aunagar the Black (a long-dead mage of Tashluta)."

Previous digging around had found that he was from what is now known as The Border Kingdoms. I was hoping there was more information in there about him. He obviously lost to either Balagos or one of the dragons Balagos killed on his way to the top. If there was more information about him, then I would be able to extrapolate when he was in the Western Heartlands and could then come up with when Balagos appeared on the scene.

Edit: I found some dates for Balagos so that isn't needed but I would still like to have info for Aunagar.

-Are ALL of the Border Kingdoms (of whatever particular time it is supposed to be set in) detailed or are some still left blank? I always liked the idea that there was just so much going on that it was intentionally left blank.

That's one of the thousands of throwaway Realmslore references scattered throughout Ed's scribblings. There is no more information. You're good at making stuff up, go for it.

Just another point of some weird cleric to invade our company. Or a Wizard if you will? Boarder Kingdoms is essential.

More are detailed than the Polyhedron/WotC website run and most of those have been updated to the 5E Realms. The good thing about the Border Kingdoms is you can insert your own anywhere in the region.

This is the most deeply Me complaint I can give, but it's hysterical to me how many times the text "the wizard died in the Spellplague" (or slight tweaks therein) are printed in this book. It did more things than kill wizards!

Not in 5e, it seems.

Instead of seeking change, you prefer a void, merciless abyss of a world...

Leftover plaguechanged beasties are a really good excuse for weird, guilt-free monsters to fight.
