Just curious if anyone has tried setting Paizo's Kingmaker AP in the Realms? If so, where and how did it go?
I really want to center it on Daggerford but that region is rather well developed. I could do the Dalelands but then that means possible establishing the Dales as a kingdom and I kind of prefer keeping the Dalelands as is.
Border Kingdoms is probably perfect but my heart is further north.

Border Kingdoms has always seemed the best bet.
If you’re a 4e fan like I am, the Vilhon Wilds might also be perfect, though you’d need to change who some of the other powers are. |

The Border Kingdoms would be my first choice, as well. There's a great DM's Guild supplement, from Ed's pen, on that area. |

Master Arcanamach,
I in the process of adapting multiple AP's to the Realms. Kingmaker is being built in the Shining South, centered around Ulgarth. I'm also building Skull and Shackles in the Sea of Fallen Stars, and Legacy of Fire in the Calimshan'ish area.
I haven't run it yet, so I can't answer that question. However, I run sandbox campaigns, and as such, there are edits I make to conform that AP to an overarching meta-theme, as well as adding in other modules to flesh out a roughly 2 - 4 million square mile area, so not apples to apples either.
Best regards,

Oh, another 4e-era suggestion; you could set it in Wealdath, amid the mess from Tethyr’s shrinking influence and control. Allows you to keep the trolls from the AP, and make Amn a looming threat. |

Learned Scribe keftiu,
Great idea. I think adding in Calimshan to that though as well would be a good idea. That gets all of the stakeholders around involved in a really great, deep, rich way with three distinctly different cultures. :) Lot's of options for the DM in a sandbox campaign.

POCGamer's thoughts on the Amn/Tethyr/Calimnshan tangle as more explicitly being an analogue for Moorish Iberia is a fascinating one, and I think adds some fantastic extra flavor to something that feels as traditional as Kingmaker skews. |

Learned Scribe keftiu,
I can see that. Especially with Athkatla being a slaver city. That makes a lot of sense. Though, those pesky Elves are right in the middle as always.
Burn it all down. haha

Border Kingdom/Lake of Steam area would be perfect.
