Super curious what prehistory and the time before the major ancient empires were, and I have no clue where to look. I’ve seen bits mentioned about the Yuir?

4e fangirl. Here to queer up the Realms.

I've asked something like this before. I hope the answers may be useful for you.

Instead of seeking change, you prefer a void, merciless abyss of a world...

The issue you have here is that early humans are very primitive and likely lacked a written language.

Therefore the only documented entries in history regarding early humans come from their more advanced neighbours.

When the elves first came to the forest of shantel othreier (I think), they noted primitive humans living among the trees.

The sarrukh are known to have used humans as slaves and experimented with them to create better slaves (yuan ti).

Therefore we know there were humans living in various parts of toril around the time of the creator races (I've noted the earliest human subraces all seem to begin with T - turami, talfir, tashalan). I suspect they arose somewhere around the lake of steam, were enslaved by the sarrukh and migrated with them to chult and the north.

History is then muddied because lots of other human subraces migrated to toril from other worlds or were created by the tinkering of more advanced beings (dragons, creator races, etc).

Just my thoughts from the many jumbled historical references in the realms so far
