Let us assume that Wizards approached you and said we want you to write a Cormyr/Evermeet type book for one of the FRs Nations/Regions

Which one would you choose?

Well, I know my first book isn't due out until 2006, but after that I'd love to do a book (or books) about Rashemen. My initial proposal for Maiden of Pain included Rashemen, but I would truly enjoy exploring that region and culture in a more exclusive way.

Well, I'm not an FR author and never will be one, but dwarves would be on my "definite read" list - a book on the Iron House of Tethyamar would be awesome IMHO. Tracing it's genesis from scattered clans of fallen Oghrann, conflict with the Netherese survivor states, dealings with the elves of Cormanthyr, drow of Maerimydra and then the fledgling Dales and cities of the Moonsea. The "present" would deal with attempts by dwarves, supported by Randal Morn of Daggerdale, Shadowdale, & the Harpers to re-take Tethyamar from the orcs and goblinoids as well as the prefidious influence of the Zhentarim and the city of Shade. Gold, I tell you, gold!

I've really fallen in love with the Old Empires, and Chessenta in particular, as a result of writing Maiden, so I'd probably choose that area of the Realms.

I'm having fun in the North, but I'm very fond of the Moonsea area. Years ago I wrote a proposal for a novel set in Hillsfar that's still probably my dream Realms project.

In order of preference, I'd put in pitches for a historical/sweeping saga set in

A) Tethyr
B) Impiltur
C) Undermountain
D) The Western World (i.e. with Doug Niles' approval, I'd do a story with explorers/adventurers going to New Waterdeep and delving north, ever north)
E) A distant past story following one virtuous moon elf clan through all SIX Crown Wars

*) Waterdeep (yes, it's still my favorite place, but enough novels are there and I doubt I could do anything that Ed & Elaine aren't already doing in their novel...)

If I had a choice of characters on which to focus a novel, that's even easier:

A) Khelben Blackstaff Arunsun
B) Gamalon Idogyr, Count of Spellshire, Tethyr
C) King Haedrak of Tethyr
D) Any of scores of characters I created for LANDS OF INTRIGUE, CITY OF SPLENDORS, EMPIRES OF THE SHINING SEA, or SEA OF FALLEN STARS

Yeah, I have a problem in narrowing my wishes, I know....

Steven

I would LOVE a book about Khelben! Hopefully Ed & Elaine will write alot about him in their upcomming book. Kameron-I too love the Old Empires and I would love to see a book detailing the struggle for power in Unther after Gilgeam's death in the ToT!

I love Phlan... you can always tell those who came to the Realms through Pool of Radiance, can't you?

Geez. No lack of focus here. . . .

The upcoming Waterdeep book is not a sweeping history, but a tale set in current day. My original desire was to write a Rutherford-style book in the Evermeet/Cormyr vein, but this was overruled by the Powers That Be.

So, if editorial direction shifts again, you might yet have a chance to write that sweeping Waterdeep historical.
