You won't find the boxed set available for a free download (except an illegal one perhaps). However, there are tons of free supplemental downloads available for free. Just do a google search for OD&D + download.

If you want a cheap copy of the boxed set, I'd suggest Ebay or for a bit more cash, one of the many resellers such as www.titangames.com

A rather nice little OD&D resource is the OD&DITIES site, which is still producing quality Original Dungeons and Dragons support material.

Check it out, it's well worth it.

This isn't free, but you can find a lot of out of print items here. The price isn't too bad either. http://www.rpgnow.com/default.php?cPath=1_294&&thumbskip=1
