| I wouldn't call it "recycling", per se. The elven spirits spend time in Arvandor, and some are reincarnated eventually. Others remain in Arvandor eternally. I suppose it is a form of recycling, but the elven spirits are the "spirit" of the elf they were in life (though they can forget the bad memories, if they wish, according to the Complete Book of Elves), until/when/if they are reincarnated. Elves definitely believe in reincarnation, but I think it's a choice of the spirits. Some elves choose to eternally remain in Arvandor, others wish to be reincarnated. If they are reincarnated as another elf, they will arena in return to Arvandor one day. So for some, it would be cyclical, just as nature is cyclical. In that way, I guess it is a recycling of sorts. |
