I am on a quest for an adventure. No, not just any old adventure but a specific adventure called "The Lottery."
I began playing D&D (the old red book basic) and plundering the keep on the borderlands back in 1980-81. I failed my saving throw and was enchanted and soon moved to purchasing first the monster manual, then the players handbook, DMG and then every module and miniature I could spend my hard earned lawn mowing money on (true story, although it does sound like an after school special script).
Some time in 1989 I rid myself of all my RPG stuff (more than I could begin to name here) but returned to it several times over the years. No, some 35 years after I first played, my four sons (11, 14, 16, 19) now have shown interest and said they want to play. I thought, I have the perfect first adventure. One I wrote in 1994-95 and subsequently had put online. Over the years I've continued to see it but now I can no longer find it!
I'm asking for help from anyone who might have seen it or downloaded it and still have it. It was called The Lottery and it was set in the Forgotten Realms Moonsea region. The general plot was atown being terrorized by some beast. Children are missing. A local cave has been found to be the source and a portcullis was placed and adventurers are selected to go in. Kobolds abound. The maps were done using early version of Campaign Cartographer.
I would love to find my old creation and use this to take my sons through their first adventure. I hope someone on here might have a copy of it or otherwise be able to help me.
Dan

If it was online, go to the Internet Archive and plug in the URL, and then pick a date from when it was live. |

It was online but I can't remember exactly where I posted it or where I remember ladtseeing it. I do know that it was in a couple of the old archived adventure sites - the place the DM that was running it on RPG Crossing certainly found it. Well, I had hoped someone on here might have had a copy. Such is my luck. |

That's a shame.
Any chance its on an old hard drive that's gathering dust, or was burned to a CD that still might be handy? |

Just wanted to put it out there that I did find someone who had a copy and they have sent it to me. Thanks for those who messaged me about this and tried to assist. By the way, my kids and significant other rolled up characters and we spent 11 hours last weekend playing first edition. And they loved it! |

That is awesome, on both counts. Glad to hear it!
I myself recently stumbled across some lost material of mine... I lost most of what I owned in a fire in 2007, and one of the things lost was a binder that had a lot of scribbled down stuff. Just recently, I discovered a rolled-up bunch of papers that had, at some point before 2007, been removed from that notebook. I've no idea why they were removed, or exactly when, though looking at some of what's on there, I suspect it may have been back in the 90's.
I'm working on transcribing it all to digital, now, though I have to wonder if it's worth it -- they're my own scribblings, and I thought they were pretty nifty, back then, but now I see that a lot of it is utter crap! |
