MY group is fighting some Amazon elves who are after an artifact that the group is carrying out of Chondath. I have yet to decide what the macguffin is.

some ideas:
* A brilliant energy weapon.
* An idol that the elves revere.
* A book written in their elvish dialect.
* An object of arcane magic that insures that daughters are conceived.

So the group is already carrying it, but you don't know what it is?

Given the Amazon elves angle, I'd combine two of the ideas, here -- an idol that the elves revere and that they believe increases the birth rate for daughters and makes them stronger. Perhaps the idol is a depiction of Angharradh as a warrior and does nothing more than offer a morale boost to elven women, but legend has made it much more important than it already is. It's carved of turquoise, and always feels warm to the touch. It's also not uncommon for viewers to feel that the eyes of the idol follow them, but there is no proof of this. Legend says that in times of great crisis, the idol whispers to Amazon elf leaders and prominent warriors.

I had to look her up. I don't like the illustration that was given her in 3e's F&P. I think the idea works and I'll take it, Wooly.

UPDATE:
The group wants the merchant to sell the idol back to them, but the merchant says its cargo headed to Sembia and he wants a copy made. The Amazon Elves would pay a good price to have their idol back, and the merchant is relunctant to sell. So far, this is shaping up to be a good adventure for the group.
