So, I've been reading up more on the old Maztica stuff, and I came across this entry about Tewahca, the City of the Gods. Its a massive step pyramid that the gods had humans build long ago so that the gods could ascend to its top and fight (specifically Qotal versus Zaltec). It happened long ago, BUT during the novels apparently it happens again (which I will note is around the time of the Time of Troubles).

Now, this step pyramid reaching to the heavens that the gods use.... it reminds me of a stairway to heaven... or a celestial stairway. Given Helm did not come to the realms during the ToT, but Qotal apparently did in Maztica.... but was Helm there by chance? From how they described it in the book, did it remind anyone else as if the gods were cast out by Ao at that time and this was in fact a celestial stairway?

I really now want to pick up that series and read it, since I quit after the first book. Maybe with 20+ years of hindsight something can be turned from it.

NM, just realized. Cordell didn't happen in 1357. He happened in 1361. Also means that Qotal didn't return until at least 1361, so this wasn't during the ToT.

That's evidence in support of domain separation between Ao - Maztica - Fate.

TRUE, now that you point that out. Or its possible that Ao didn't punish pantheons that didn't have any kind of involvement with the Faerunian Pantheon (arguably, Mulhorand, Unther, and even Thay and Rashemen were becoming disputed ground). Oddly though, we do have a reference that the Kara-Tur deities were also cast out though.

What it does specifically show us though is that IF the gods of Maztica did get cast out, they hid it very well (which actually they were getting all these yearly omens for the ten years leading up to the Amnians arrival / Qotal's return... if the gods had gone silent for 4 months in 1358, might that have been just assumed to be additional displeasure?... if I'm calculating correctly, the Omen that year was Mount Zatal's snow turning crimson for 10 days and the ToT was roughly 120 days... might be a stretch)
