In one of the FR novels I've read there was a mention of a place called the "Island Nation of. . . ." and I can't remember what the nations name was or the book I read it in. Does anyone know what/where this info is.

Evermeet? Moonshae? Nelanther? Though the latter isn't much of a nation as it is anarchy.
If you can be a bit more specific on any aspect of the novel: subject matter, details you can remember about it; then a clearer answer might be forthcoming from one of the scribes. |

Are we talking about island nations of the western coast of Faerun...? Remember, there are a small number of island nations off the eastern coast of Kara-Tur as well (some of which have been mentioned in FR novels, like the nation of Wu).

I actually believe there are two kingdoms (or rather, there were two). You were right about the name of the kingdom though Rad. The realm that I called Wu, is (or rather was, after it was conquered by Shou Lung) a land-based realm east of Shou Lung. The other, Wa, is the island nation that I had originally meant when I mentioned it in my post above. I knew I would be getting those two confused when I typed that response  . I'll double check anyway, just to be certain.
There are other possibilities however, the (Japanese-based) realm of Kozakura being one...

I know it was not Evermeet or the Moonshae's, but maybe Nelanther or Lantan. can anyone tell me in what novels I can read about these places or any of the "Island Nations" (setting up a game).
I could almost swear I read it in the "once around the realms" novel but I can't find my copy. |

Hmmm...I seem to recall a mention or two in the Once Around the Realms novel as well, but I'm a little reluctant to go and get my copy, sit down, and start reading for those passages...(I think we all know why)...

Not bad, just pointless. To this day, I've never heard, nor read, a reasonable explanation for why this novel was even allowed to see print. I mean, there must be better ways to introduce newcomers to the world of Realms-fiction surely...

I'm not sure I understand what it is you are asking, but the main Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book provides enough information on most of these island nations to at least get you up and running with your game.
If you require any more information about an island nation, just ask here at Candlekeep...

Hmmm...I'd never considered Once Around the Realms in that light before, but you are esssentially right. I guess those portions of the novel that just seemed lifted from real world historical events made the novel less appealing in terms of substance regardless of embellishment...

It was Lantan that was quoted in "Once around the realms". Does anyone know what novels are written in or around Lantan, Nelanther or Nimbral?.

| To the best of my knowledge, none of those locales have been in any novels, and there's very little official info available on them, as well. And this draws vacuum, because I, for one, would love to see more info on Nimbral and Lantan. |

Well, I myself am a Spelljammer junkie, and I have all of the stuff. So feel free to ask me any questions. 
The deckplans for the squidship (one of my fave hulls, BTW) are actually on the WotC site.
