I've started a blog designed to facilitate role-playing games set in Faerūn using the Fate rules:https://fateoftheforgottenrealms.wordpress.com/
Really it's a way of celebrating the unique, story-rich milieu of the Forgotten Realms. Fate is a very story-driven role-playing game where the details of the narrative are attributed mechanical value. It seemed a natural fit for Faerūn.
There's a lot of content there - a Dungeon Master's Guide of sorts dealing with character creation, magic and more along with various blog posts musing on the culture of gaming and the art of DMing, not to mention the occasional piece of realmslore. Hope to see you there!
Oh and I've referenced Candlekeep as being a very important resource Keep her lit, scribes!

Good stuff. I don't believe alignment is compatible with Fate and aspects I believe are so different that you could only look to a traditional D&D mechanic like alignment and use it as a source of inspiration rather than try to replicate it. I even blogged on the subject: https://fateoftheforgottenrealms.wordpress.com/2015/07/08/gods-mortals/
I took my key from the Fate Freeport Companion and modified it heavily. I'm very satisfied with what I have done but I probably need to add some new mage archetypes to really capture the breadth and variety of magic as depicted in the realms.
I'm still drooling over the dice featured on your blog's header. I'd kill to get my hands on them but unfortunately most outlets won't deliver to the emerald isle - a tragedy!
Fate is wonderful though, once you get a firm grasp of the game and it's mechanics. It's almost pure story, or at least as much as a RPG can be. I wouldn't bother going back to any other system now, even though I think WotC did a great job with 5e on areas like classes and character backgrounds. |
