It looks like my husband is going to be joining our costume group for GenCon. I wanted to see if you guys had anythoughts on colors, symbols, etc. for armor & robes.
From what I can see his colours should be black, white and gold or silver? I am going to make hinm a costume long sword to wear with his kit. Planning on putting scrolls on things.
He's also going to roll up the actual character at lvl 10ish, as am I with my Warlock.
How does this sound? Any thoughts?
EDIT: I didn't make the plate, but I made the rest of it. http://lilibat.deviantart.com/art/Paladin-of-Oghma-547829953?ga_submit_new=10%253A1437454194

Do you have access to much of the older material? Faiths & Avatars will describe the holy symbol and preferred attire for Oghma's priests, and there were a lot of pics of priests/priestesses in that book that were reprinted from Forgotten Realms Adventures. |

We might have that somewhere. We have a LOT of D&D books of different periods. I'll take a look. Thanks. |

Well met!
I've had a look through Faiths and Avatars for you... one of the best Forgotten Realms books ever!
Ceremonial dress.
White shirt and trousers with a vest of black and gold brocade. The shirt sleeves are wide, but tied at the wrists. The vests depict many glyphs, sigils, runes and symbols of magical power in gold braid.
A small box-like hat is worn for ceremonies and in holy places.
Hope this helps? |

I love these ideas and look forward to seeing such awesome costumes. There is a certain tiefling warlock and paladin of Ogmha in the Realms that have a relationship. :) so I admit, this is an even more exciting costume option. :) even if it's not intentional. |

Just to add some flavor to the outfit, small stoppered bottle filled with black colored water (ink vial), attach several quills as well. In fact, if his sword sheath were to have a writing kit strapped to it (a couple scroll cases too) that would very much fit. As Oghma is also a god of bards, some form of musical instrument (simple recorder, pan flute, etc...) could be a good add on. |

Oh, and "staining" the tip of one of his fingers black like its stained from writing might be good. |

Oh, that is very much the inspiration for my urging my husband to pick the diety in question, though Oghma suits him personally anyway.
Interesting ideas, I am certainly finding inspiration here. Thank you!
We are planning more of an adventuring outfit, with a few pieces of plate for him. More ease of movement & skill based than just ball of armor, which also seems to fit Oghma.
Most of the party (Warlock, Pally, Bard, Wizard, and probably a Rogue), is in their mid 40's (The Elf Rogue is being played by a 20 something, but elf so it works),so we are going with slightly higher level, 'we have seen some excrement & surived a lot' kind of characters. |

Maybe on the tip of his nose or ear lobes, too. |

From Faiths & Avatars:
Adventuring Garb: In the field, Oghmanyte priests have a relaxed dress code, wearing what they choose and usually choosing as much armor as possible. The Church of Oghma (in Sembia) retains the harlequin's mask, but only within the borders of Sembia. Priests of the Wise God are encouraged to develop any musical skills they possess under the tutelage of senior clergy and bards of accomplishment, and they usually carry some sort of instrument on their persons as well as some means of writing things down. Many loremasters carry items of minor temple magic known as pens of Oghma. These are quill pens that do not break, glow at the writer's will brightly enough to see to write or read by, and generate their own endless ink: a substance that does not blotch or fade, and dries instantly. |

So what language/runes would said paladin likely have on his garb? Bonus points if it's in a font already. |

The old First edition Grey Boixset had 2 or 3 Alphabets used in the FOrgotten realms
