JD, I didn't like that story either. See my comments on it in the Book Club for further details.
As for myself, I'm more than halfway through Storm of the Dead right now. I can't stomach the setting changes, but in spite of that (surprisingly) the novel is very good.
I'll post some longer comments about 'Realms of the Elves' in the appropriate Book Club section. I have read your comments incidentally, and we're more or less on the same wavelength with that particular story, at least.
The Smedman story is verrrrrry good. Really enjoyed that one. And Erik Scott de Bie's one is shaping up nicely too.
All the best!

I did like that one (I like that author) but again, see my comments. Some ideas presented in that story really troubled me. |

Interesting. You've quite piqued my curiosity there. Look for some more detailed comments over in the Book Club section in the next couple of days.
Regards for now!

I hit a milestone. Upon completion of The Simbul's Gift I have read 150 Realms novels. As it turns out, I actually enjoyed this tome in spite of my initial indifference to the storyline.
Well met
Excellent, Xysma 'tis indeed a proud moment. I'm not sure how many novels there are in total, however... do you have much left to read?
According to my list there are 201 Realms novels that have been published. So, I've got 51 to go. |

Oops, I just realized my previous count included books that have not yet been released. I actually count 202 currently released.
So far I have read 48 and am working on #49 right now. Then I have an addition 16 FR novels on my shelf waiting to be read. Man I am way behind |

| Right now I am reading The Crypt of the Shadowking and The Orc King and I realized it was odd that I am reading Salvatore and Mark Anthony at the same time given the history there. I have to say that although I am a Salvatore fan, The Orc King is off to a rocky start. The entire prelude is just terrible, followed by Drizzt pontificating (also boring to me after all these years), but once the story actually starts, it's not bad. The Crypt of the Shadowking is great. Caledan Caledonion is an interesting character, the Tabaxi swordsman-turned-monk Tyveris is one of my favorite supporting characters in a good long while, Ferret is exaclty how I want to play a rogue, the halflings are great, I could go on and on. |

| About half way through Swords of Eveningstar. I must say, I'm enjoying it so far. I'm not a Greewood fan at all, some of his stuff just bores me to tears. Really surprise I'm enjoying this one, I had to work up the nerve to start it. |

I should try to get my hands on those old Shadowking books. |

I finished Crypt of the Shadowking and really enjoyed it. Morhion stole the show, what a cool character. Anyway, The Orc King is now on the backburner since I have just got to read Curse of the Shadowmage.
Yes, these are excellent novels that IMO never received much attention or follow up like some of the other harpers novels. |

"Unclean" is a great novel - check out the threads on it for some interesting discussions when your done
As for me, I've finished "The Summoning" - which I really enjoyed and "Vampire of the Mists" (which although not FR, has some interesting FR lore in it - Merrydale lore etc).
Working my way through "The Coral Kingdom" which I'm enjoying alot! |

I intended to go ahead and finish The Orc King, but I've been working on a Tuigan barbarian/ranger for an upcoming campaign (Expedition to Undermountain) and have decided to go with the Empires trilogy instead.
Its been years since I read Anthony's Harper books, I wonder if they are still as good as I remember them. Its been more than six months since I touched any Realms novels not by Ed, so maybe I should go digging through the shelves later. |

| After a long journey to other lands far from the Realms I am back. I just started Bloodwalk. I was surprised that not much has been written about it here. What has been written makes it sound very interesting though. |

| The only books I have read that have been published in the last 3 (or maybe 4) years are the Ervis Cale Trilogy and RAS's novels. I will be looking to remedy that in the next year after I finish my 3.x FR supplement books. |
