I'm a long time Realms enthusiast, going all the way back to Darkwalker on Moonshae and 2nd edition D&D. I've read ~100 or so of the novels, played countless Realms-based video games, even modded some existing games to make Realms scenarios.
I hit a bit of a hiatus at some point in the late 90s/early 2000s. But 5 years ago, while going through and organizing my bookcases, I decided to embark on an ambitious project: I'm looking to read every single novel from all of the major TSR/WotC worlds. To that end I've been amassing a boatload of used books over the years from a variety of sources, both online and from stores. I started by reading the smaller, defunct settings, so I would feel like I'm making more progress. I've since read:
5 out of 5 Planescape novels 20/20 Ravenloft novels (not counting the re-launch books into our modern world) 15/16 Darksun novels and a smattering of Greyhawk/Mystara material (Rod of Seven Parts, the Penhaligon trilogy) I'm not a fan of the Eberron setting, so I'll be giving that one a miss.
For the last 3-4 years I've been tackling the Dragonlance world. There are something like 155 books in that line, I'm currently 7 away from completion.
I generally read a book or two per week (depending on work), so I will be diving into the Forgotten Realms in the next month or two. Many of the early books will be re-reads and should go fairly quickly. I'm seriously excited to dive back into Toril, to catch up with old characters, and to see what new directions they've gone in my absence.
My plan, if it's not too presumptuous, is to open a new scroll to keep track of this journey. As I finish each book I will post a mini-review, and welcome other posters to chime in with whatever thoughts they may have on a particular story. It won't be a book club type of thing, as I set a brisk pace and won't adhere to any kind of formal schedule, but it could be a nice, nostalgic walk for others to reminisce in.
Anyway, sorry about the rambling. I tend to be the type that uses 100 words when 4 would suffice. Thanks for reading if you've made it this far, and I hope to hear from many of you once my reading project commences.

Welcome to Candlekeep and good luck with your project. I've read 216 Realms books, all of the Ravenloft/Dark Sun/Planescape/Birthright/Spelljamer books, and about 15 Dragonlance books, though I don't plan on completing Dragonlance like I am with the Realms. |

Welcome to Candlekeep!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay! |
