Here is the snapshot newsletter from our gameing club in south adelaide :) its published roughly once every half season.

Also included are some demographics on the cross section of characters active in the world.

HERE YE, HERE YE! (Issue 1)

Tis the 30th of Mirtul, but Kythorne, the season of wild flowers loom on the Morrow!

Scions of Melvaunt amiss! The Iron Council denys the allegations despite no sighting of any of the young nobility in a Tenday!
Ice burgs finally begin to Thaw in the Bay of Swords! Scholars from the Temple of Gond and Oghma confirm the coldest Mirtul in living memory! Council of Iron begins hunt for cultists of Auril in basements across the city – as suspicions turn towards Glister in the North, and the Machinations of the Temple of Cold Comfort to answer for the chill!

BOUNTY on ORC ears! 2 silver piece per right ear only! As Caravans are savagely Mauled by increasingly Brazen Marauders from Thar.
Dwarven Migrants and Mercinarys flock to Daggerdale to seek the Fabled mines of Tethyamar as King Ghellin falls ill in the Far Hills! Adventurers far and wide cash in as the Dwarves call for Aid!

Merchants from Thentia fail to arrive with the Seasonal Thaw! Merchant Ships from Hillsfar arrive instead offering Conveniant solution – Grains, Wine, Timber and Wool, for Arms and Armor wrought of Galena Steel! Coincidence?

Steel Workers cry 'Badalder!' as the price of Iron and Silver Skyrocket! Merchants demand more in coin to cover the cost of mercinarys, after orcs decimate the Warriors of the Turning Wheel. With more shipments to come, how low will the Iron Council stoop to secure the roads?

PHLAN CALLS FOR AID! Adventurers in the city of blades coaxed with golden incentives to assist the New City Council in reclaiming the parts of the city lost during the Dragons run of 1306! For more information, seek out Counciler Porphyrs Cadorna at the Cracked Crown in Phlan!

HEAR YE, HEAR YE! (Issue 2)

- Orc attacks intensify along the Glister road! Caravans driven to a Standstill in the name of a rising orc warlord. Melvaunt hires the Red Ravens Mercinary Company to Hold the Road to Glister with Council Speaker Pueter Marsk saying, I quote 'The Streets will run hot with Liquid Iron so long as I can help it'.

- Trade with Hillsfar Booms, as Cormanthor Timber beams and Cotton Garments for the coming summer season fill Melvinian Warehouses across the docks. Late season trade with Thentia is also restablished after the Navy of Melvaunt drive off pirates at Point Moonsea.

- Word from Thentia, City of the Arts, has declared itself the most lawful city on the northern coasts - after the destruction of a major theives guild lurking in its ultra-modern 'Tremor Cube' Sewer system.

- Progress in Phlan! With the reclamation of the Sokol keep, supply ships and mercinarys from the City of Swords have flocked to reinforce its sister city, with the Iron council pledging its support in the hopes it will 'remember its allies'. Word has it already, Redplumes from Hillsfar have made their presence known in the city as a gift from Maalthir of Hillsfar. In response, Melvaunt has vowed to send a double strength contingent of Hammercloaks in support - once the Orc crisis on the glister road has been resolved.

- News from the West coast! Zhentil keep rebuilds its navy with timber logged from distant border forest! While rumor has it monsterous tribes mass on its northern doorstep. The Increased activity among the Gnoll tribes also threatens to envelope Phlan. A Mercinary Army, called the Red Exterminators, have been deployed to protect Phlans Borders. Word from the front says, they are currently courting allies in the form of the Nomadic Damaran tribesmen on the Grass sea.

- Word from Ilinvur! As Heavily armed Traders arrive in Melvaunt escorted by the Knights of Torm. They bring word that the Cult of Cyric has spread even to the northern Ride, after a cult is exposed and destroyed at a border keep. The Iron Council Maintains that neither Cyric , nor his predecessor Bane, have any place in the City of Swords. In response, A full scale purge of the Slums district is launched, leading many to question if the purge actually acheived anything other than 200 hundred arrests and 33 deaths, and a pittance in looted revenues for the city council.

HERE YE, HERE YE!(Issue 3)

Flamerule Looms, or so sayeth Harptos!

Murder in Melvaunt! The First born heirs of House Bruil, Calaudra and Marsk meet their ends at the Hands of House Natali Agents out on the Thar after being abducted by Reknowned Drunkard and Bearded Dwarven Knave, Dorn Crownshield! A Captured Assasin from House Natali, calling himself 'Lucius' Admitted in Court before the Iron Council that he was hired by house Natali to commit the Murderous deed leading to the Stripping of all Natali Lands and Titles, the execution of its heirs and for the house Patriach to be cast adrift upon the moonsea. House Natali chose to go down fighting, leading to a brutal seige of house Natali which lasted only a night. Wide spread Backlash against the Small Dwarven community in smoketown has lead to Riots and Lynchings. Many Dwarven familys now Flee for their lives to neighboring cities....

(In game effect: Dwarven steel smithing families are now fleeing melvaunt. Representatives of this demographic should begin appearing in Phlan, Illinvur, Zhentilkeep, Mulmaster and Thentia respectively... House Natali Destroyed. Theodorus the Dwarven Weapons Mage of Melvaunt flees to Mulmaster...)

Orcs on the Backfoot! A Sudden slackening of the Raids upon the glister road has begun to circulate rumors that the orcs have resorted once again to Barbarism among their own kind - Just in time for the trade season! Heavily armed mercinary caravans begin rolling south out of Glister facing only light resistance as they go!

(A Regiment of Hammercloaks have been diverted to Phlan and are awaiting assignment - either out upon the Grass Sea, or just in time for the next council push)

Rumors circulate that an Army of Gnolls, massing on the Grass Sea are threatening to Overwhelm Phlans borders! But news from the front has it that the Red Exterminators, now having allied with the Nomadic people of the Grass lands, and an adventuring group known as the Band of Ravens Omen have won a major victory in battle over the Gnolls of the Palemane tribe! Scattering the Dog men to the winds! Such befits their inferiority!

( Palemane tribe destroyed / Absorbed by the other tribes )

The Dead Rise in Phlan! Reports have begun to circulate that the doomed followers of the crying god, Ilmater, have taken to battling the walking dead in Phlans haunted Valhingen Necropolis! First hand accounts tell of a team of religous crusaders calling themselves 'The Eternity Bastion' sucessfully conducting an exorcism against a powerful spirit. As the council gathers for their push deeper into Phlan, it is good to know these undervalued faiths shall continue to serve their betters as they speed on their decline into obscurity. ALL HAIL LOVIATAR.

( Undead presence lessened in Valhingen )

Murmors from the Black Keep have it Relocations to the Citidel of the Raven are nearly complete. A wound still fresh in the minds of many. Still Lord Orgauths Laxity knows no bounds, as poor governance leads to the loss of several major rural centres of industry, including Cormans Mine to marauding monsters and bandits! Adventurers find work and wolves tears a plenty beyond the city walls...

( No effect that cannot be offset by the Black network )

Whispers from the East Coast speak of Drow coming in the night to terrorise the small community outside the ruins of Hullburg. Lord Hulmaster denies these claims vehrmently, but one terrified citizen, by the name of reginald claims the dark ones have returned to plague the surface world once again! Rumors thickened by the subsequent dissapearance of an entire Squadron of the, laughably comical, Thentian Rothe Riders. A Precursor to an invasion? This Bard suspects it will take more than just Beef, to pay the Butchers bill ...

( No in game effect, though beef prices have risen slightly )

Tales from the Distant North of Illinvur speak of monsters a plenty to slay with the discovery of a vast monster infested cave system in the Galena Foothills. Though reports cannot be verified, it was said that an entire tribe of Lizardfolk were efficiently put to the Sword by the Warriors of Torm. PRAISE BE TO THE CRUSADERS, who do the dieing so that more pragmatic sorts can survive! In addition, a sudden and unseasonal thunderstorm, said to have appeared from out of a clear sky, disrupted the sport of one melvinian local lord out north on the ride hunting 'natives', exclaiming 'The wind nearly took off my hat!'.

( no in game effect. bar for one disgruntled nobleman... who probably wont make it back to melvaunt with his scalp intact... )

Thumbs up.

What do the numbers in the demographics represent?

At Misereor : The numbers represent the number of people playing that class / race. So... for example... there are 15 humans and 3 elves in the game world. We have 3 Paladins and 3 Barbarians. 10 people are Chaotic good, 11 people support slavery and 7 are doomed to languish forever in the wall of the dead (Question: did it exist during Cyrics time as the god of death?).

At George Krashos : Wow! A master of realms Lore in my home town :D we game down at Zidians Collectables on Christies Beach road. We have a group running on Wednesday, Two on Thursday, One on Friday and One on Saturday. Always looking for another DM to start a game up on Thursday! But we are happy to take more players.

** Note aswell : The statistics were only take from the players who bothered to fill in my questionaire, so it represents the 'majority' but not the club as a whole (waiting on 6 people)

According to the FR novels it did.
And I noticed the numbers didn't add up for Class and Alignment, so I thought it might be something else.

*edit* 35 players? Nice. I live in a city of 1.5 million, and we have trouble finding a single player when someone leaves.

The Key is integrative thinking (to coin my buzz word for the night).

I was sick of DM's measuring their worlds / power levels / player bases against eachother and wanted to create something where the DM's and the players can fully interact with and benefit from eachothers games in real time. Where several living parties can perform deeds Other DM's may choose to mention or play out the repecussions of.

For instance - Currently one DM (the Grass sea campaign) is running a war time campaign set on the wind swept grass lands between Zhentilkeep and Phlan against a Massing horde of Gnolls. His expertise running the Gnoll faction has benefited me, the Phlan DM. Currently my players are pushing into a section of town which recently saw war between the Kobolds and the gnolls for Turf. The Gnolls won, driving the Kobolds into the sewers where they resorted to Lycanthropy to survive. The Gnolls on the other hand have been feasting for days - when the Council of new Phlan sends in its mercinary Army of Redplumes, hired courtesy of Maalthir of Hillsfar.

Using his expertise for the rough Size / capabilities of the Gnoll faction in Phlan - and my rough reasoning of how mighty the mercinarys from Phlan would be - we have opted to trial out the new Mass Combat Rules for 5th edition and pit the Red Plumes of Hillsfar against the Gnolls in a DM head to head.

The Repecussions of the battle, will reflect in the next players session (if the Redplumes are losing. Or if Defeat is due to the work of a KEY monster - like a Troll).

Currently Both Forces - upon discussion - look like this.

REDPLUME MERCINARY COMPANY

Commander - (MM : Veteran)
- Full Plate, Longsword and a Shortsword, Halfplate barded Warhorse.

Heavy Cavlary (20) - (MM : Thug)
- Splint Mail, Cavlary Spear, Longsword, Splint Barded Warhorse
+ 2 Acolytes of Tempus ( MM : Acolyte )

Red Plume Infantry (30) (MM: Guards)
- Splint Mail, Long Swords, Shields
+ Commanded by a Knight of the Steel Fang (MM : Knight on Splint Barded Horse with Longsword )
+ Attached 3 Acolytes of Tempus (MM: Acolyte with Splint Mail, Long Sword)
+ 10 Carry Arbalests for ranged combat (20 bolts)

Red Plume Infantry (30) (MM: Guards)
- Splint Mail, Long Swords, Shields
+ Commanded by a Knight of the Steel Fang (MM: Knight on Horse with Longsword)
+ Attached 3 Acolytes of Tempus (MM: Acolyte with Splint Mail, Longsword)
- 10 Carry Arbalests for Ranged Combat (20 bolts)

THE BLOODPAW GNOLLS
