Best regards,
Candlekeep 2.0 clearly is using Sage time. Which means it might take ten years give or take about nine. |

Alas not. The amount of effort to migrate and translate as planned outweighs the need. Over the years, the Internet has changed from being primarily forums and content based to other mediums and formats. With social media and such, sites such as this are becoming less visited and of value. Candlekeep will always be here but unless there are significant changes in time, resource, money, I can't see significant overhauls taking place.
That said, forum migration is on the cards but the site itself is more than likely to remain old and clunky. |

Master Alaundo,
Thank you for the swift reply!

I am sure it has been asked, but in case it hasn't... have you all considered a crowd funding operation to fund the expenses including labor, tech, legal, etc.?

Understandable.

Well, I love the community and content. I just would love to see something done to ensure younger folk keep coming here and stay! :)

Master Alaundo,
I was thinking about this when I was looking at a fantastic map of Master Markustay's the other day: any possibility of having the ability to insert images, such as maps, into the forum posts? I am sure that would have considerable consequences for storage, but it would be great to have inserts.
Best regards,

Images are disabled on the forums so as not to create oversized posts and messy threads. There is no plan to remove this restriction. Any such maps and images can be sent into Candlekeep for inclusion on the site if the author wishes. |

Two requests: 1) Increase private message limit, could be linked to post count, title, or just a request on an individual basis. I guess there's a work around at the moment by msging someone directly from their summary listing?
2) A toggle button on searches that will list by scroll (as it does now) or individual post. This way if I search for the exact phrase "Private Message Limit" I don't have to go through each page of this scroll looking for it. So I could get multiple results for a single long scroll. |

Many thanks for your suggestions. Note, however, that no further code updates or feature enhancements will be made to the forums themselves. The forums will eventually be migrated to another codebase rather than attempt to amend the current platform. |

Thanks for the quick reply. I likely knew this and had forgotten about it, whoops.
More important than anything else is that the site keeps going, everything else is just a cherry on top. Keep up the good work. |

Is there any chance you could post a little bit more to your Candlekeep page on Facebook?: https://www.facebook.com/Candlekeep
I have tried to support Candlekeep over the years, by inviting as many Forgotten Realms fans as I can to like your Facebook page, in the hope that will help fans of Forgotten Realms, who do not yet know that Candlekeep exists will discover your Facebook page and then surf over to the website.
But you only have 572 likes on your Facebook page at the moment. I think that may be down to you not making many posts telling people about cool things like "The Candlekeep Compendium" that they can come and get from here.
Dragonlance Nexus have managed to get a lot more likes, and I think you could get more likes and more visitors, if you posted a few posts a month to let people know what you do. |

Thanks for your post and support, Big Mac.
Indeed, a very fair point and request. Social media was really set up to inform audiences of updates to the site, but it should be used more these days, as you suggest and move with the times.
I wouldn't expect it to take over from the site proper and become just another Facebook page and group. So it's really down to getting time and effort to be more active on the Facebook page itself, even it's just having periodical posts to mention and discuss existing lore from the site, highlight hot-topic forum posts, etc. |

I agree that Facebook, Twitter, Discord, etc are fine places to advertise. Putting links to Candlekeep there would increase visibility and convenience for many people.
On the other side of the coin: some of us despise or reject social media. We consciously choose to not participate in it because we feel it adds nothing of real value to our lives. We specifically come to places like Candlekeep because they're not social media sites. And we wonder why is it so hard for people on Facebook/etc to click a link which would take them away from their social media site.
Also: one does not control Facebook, Twitter, Discord, etc. Those sites are owned and operated by other entities who will do whatever they please with "your" page and "your" content. Should they choose to categorize, censor, or remove it then you basically have no real way to recover or appeal.
Finally: my understanding (which could be wrong) is that Candlekeep enjoys a special status or arrangement with WotC. Not to mention Candlekeep's special status and function with certain FR game designers and FR authors. Expanding Candlekeep all over social media might cause such special status/arrangement to be re-evaluated. |

To piggyback on Ayrik's comments, I would also suspect Candlekeep to be flooded with spam advertising and Internet trolls more frequently on a social media site than is already the case. Our moderators would likely spend more time swinging banhammers than anything else. I would like to be wrong. |

Oh my. It's almost like you don't want your every phrase to be evaluated by the Ministry of Truth that consists of a cat lady, adulterous embezzler divorced her in a scandal only to marry a literal prostitute, their fat cat and a literal prostitute, among the other... vibrant characters (which is what S-nope-s turned out to be). Or that if you accidentally mention a mathematical law declared indecent this month, there are hand-picked nice people who will helpfully disconnect you before you can embarrass yourself with worse badthink? It's a road to heresy! |
