Over the last 4 months, we have had a few books publish, and the WOTC have gone silent in anticipation of 5E publishing. What do we know so far, from the various sundering books that have been published, about the wider world?

I can only speak to the adventures and Ed's interviews/speeches.
Ao is going to rewrite the Tablets of Fate. This will put Abeir back where it came from but it will also potentially edit or destroy the power of the gods. In response, just about every god has at least one Chosen running around doing very important jobs for them.
Mystra is back and is mad with Lolth for her attempt to create a new Weave; The last two Bhaalspawn - Viekang and Abdel Adrian - finally killed each other, allowing for the resurrection of Bhaal; There's been a REALLY cold winter; The Ten Towns were almost taken over by agents of the Arcane Brotherhood, who're on their way back into power, but they're spread out rather than being concentrated in Luskan; The Red Wizards of Thay have a stronghold on the Sword Coast now. |

Are any of the interviews published? |

don't forget the dead in thay adventure... |
why is being a wizard like being a drow? both are likely to find a dagger in the back from a rival or one looking to further his own goals, fame and power

I think I read somewhere the new Realms would be an open era setting. Will this allow them or are there plans to go back and publish pre ToT or Spellplague set novels? |

-I don't think that there is a clear answer for this, but I can't imagine, with them having a 'new' timeline to populate, that stories would primarily be set in the past. Scenes might take place in the past, stories might have stuff in them where the past is important, but with a limited amount of Forgotten Realms novels per year, I would assume that the primary goal is to use them as a medium to illuminate the world in its current incarnation. |

SPOILERS (from the last two Sundering novels): The Sea of Fallen Stars has been 'refilled' back to its pre-spellplague levels and now, with The Sentinel novel, so has the Underchasm. Helm is back and is presumably heading to wherever the action is set for the final novel (I could be wrong about his destination here but I doubt it). It looks like Cyric may have been released from his captivity but this was not stated as fact. Myrkul was mentioned in the last novel a number of times, I believe this to be a forshadowing of his return as well. |

Yeah, that last me has me giddy as well. Hello, formerly Dead Three. How I missed your association. :) |
