So, I took some time today because I was wondering how the heck you make a font. Found 3 different programs. The first 2 sucked. The last one was so easy, I was amazed and started putting in all the Tuigan alphabet from the Horde boxed set. I figured I would share this for anyone that might have a personal use to write something in Tuigan (yeah, I know that's rare). However, I've always found good fonts up here on Candlekeep, so I figured I'd see if I could give it to candlekeep to share (since that's how I got my Thorass font). So, Sage, Wooly, Alaundo (someone else?)... can I send it to you?

Oh, and for those who want to point out that 3rd edition says the Tuigan language uses Thorass, my answer is "stupid researchers do not trump existing lore". Also, just a note, Tuigan doesn't have a 0, but it does have 10 and 100. 10 is $ and 100 is &.

On a side note, do we have any similar example alphabets for other Torilian cultures (I know of the Thorass, Espruar and Dethek in the Campaign Setting)? I know of the ones in the horde set, and I'll be making the Ra-Khati & Semphari ones later (not sure what to do for the letter C in Semphari since they use either k or s depending on pronunciation). Do we have any similar examples for say Zakhara, Kara-Tur, or the underdark where they printed out the entire alphabet?

Oh, and the reason why I focused on Tuigan first is that it is the most true to the ancient Imaskari. The Ra-Khati will be my next, because it has some linkage to the Shou language, so I'm assuming they're the same alphabet. The Semphari language just seems to be for Semphar and Murghom, so I may just do it for a lark.

done, thanks wooly.

BTW, just a reminder, any other Torilian alphabets anywhere that anyone know of? Did they ever by chance reproduce any Abeiran alphabets in 4e (I ask because I assume they have totally different languages)? I just discovered that the draconic alphabet was recreated in the 4th edition draconomicon (metallic dragons). I am noting that it only has the numbers 1-9 (i.e. no 0 and no tens... odd). Someone already seems to have made it though, so I won't recreate the wheel (located at below link).

The Shou language is on the map that came with the K-T box (IIRC).

May I ask what program you found to make fonts? I was looking for one awhile back (to create an easy-to-use map icon set).

FontCreator by High Logic, but fair warning up front, I only learned after creating the font that it doesn't let you export as an OTF format unless you buy the program.

Ah, thanks Markustay. I just scrolled through the Kara-Tur Campaign setting again and didn't see it. However, since you said you saw it on a map, on a hunch, I started looking at the old Kara-Tur Trail Map. Its there. Will do this and Ra Khati and Semphari tomorrow. I do note an interesting conundrum between the K-T boxes set and this Shou-Chiang Alphabet on the map. The map has the normal 26 characters. From the boxed set: "The writing of the Empire is in the 24 characters of Shou Chiang, the basis for written communications throughout Shou Lung."
