As it says in the title I have the precious...er I mean the book. Its one of the best novels I've read, both as a fantasy novel, but I'd argue also as horror novel. I give it 5 stars, which matches 5 stars for the Companions. 2 out of 2 awesome novels so far, I'm excited for the Advesary in December.

I also received my copy last Friday, I'm only half finished because I'm a slow reader and busy, but it is amazing. I've been waiting for this book since ShadowRealm came out. The Sundering is doing everything right...the direction, the Easter Eggs, the connections between books. It also seems like the slow down between releases has allowed them to focus on really putting out quality books. If this is the caliber of FR books coming out from now on, I'll take six a year over pumping them out any day.

Meh, it's not the focus on less novels. It's two books by two great writers. Matter of fact, all of the Sundering books are by great writers so I would expect no less than great novels.

They can certainly go back to the 10-12 a year model and maintain quality. it's all about the quality of the editors and a solid support for the writers.

I agree, as long as they invest in good editors, they'll be set for a bunch of books.

How many chapters are in the book? If we know that maybe Sage will start some book club scrolls for Godborn?

I bought mine at a Canadian store called Chapters, same as The Companions. I used to read about books being released early at some stories, but this is the first time (The Companions and The Godborn) its happened at my local book store. Both books look really slick and nice.

SPOILERS BELOW, SPOILERS BELOW YOU'VE BEEEN WARNED.

Okay I loved this novel, but its the darkest horror flavoured novel I've ever read, although I love horror. The brothers Zyheed and Sayeed are the freakiest, creepiest villains in all the Forgotten Realms, with their 13 possessed black cats that aren't black cats, but devils wearing the poor cats like a suit. The scene with the Devourer makes me wonder why this type of undead has not yet been stolen by the horror genre. You add in the desolation of post spellplague Sembia, the Shadowfell including the Citadel of Shadows, and Cania the 8th level of hell and its just the perfect novel for halloween (October). The Spirits and the undead vs. the Devils of Cania was a really cool battle.

And boy did Vasen make some insane enemies, The Lord of the 8th, Shar, and not beings you want thirst for revenge against you and both have ample reason to hate Vasen and Cale.

The invovlement of Lanthander was brilliant way to create cronstastand to provide a foil for the darkness.

It would be great, if the Godborn book club scrolls were opened this weekend. The scrolls for The Companions came up just too late, when everyone was through already with reading, so the discussion did not really start anymore.

GODBORN is the title that i've been looking forward this year. I've already pre-ordered it but would really appreciate some spoilers.

So who is the new Mask? I assume that the Cycle of Night was disrupted as the Forgotten Realms isn't going to end anytime soon.

Damn....the kindle version is only just over $1 less.

I got the Companions for about 1/2 of the hardcover price.

I guess I'm on the sidelines until a price drop....oh well I am in the middle of 20,000 leagues under the sea and have a stack of classic on my kindle that I have not read yet!

Bah. I had a nice long review done up for the past week and a half. But now I cannot find the text file. Serves me right for not naming it. Just had it as "new text document" lol.

Ill be throwing together another for tomorrow's debut.

Hi Firestorm, if you have the Chapter indications, maybe you can send those to the mods? Then they can open the corresponding scrolls in the Book Club section.
