Anyone going to Worldcon (Lonestarcon) in San Antonio this coming weekend? (from Thursday through Monday, Labor Day weekend)
I was looking on the schedule, and noticed Jon Schindehette from WotC will be there, and has scheduled an interesting panel entitled The Sundering – Splitting D&D down the middle: http://www.lonestarcon3.org/guide/#part/2289
The description reads: "Jon Schindehette talks about D&D's new story arc, and how it is going to be experiences in a transmedia context. From the world building, to the story development, to the actual execution of the story."
I am not clear on how Realms-oriented this topic is going to be. From the sound of it, it could be entirely Realms focused, or then again it might not. But, regardless, it sounds interesting and I plan to attend all the same. I will be glad to pass on any questions you all might have. Or if any of you are going to the con, maybe I will see you there! Let me know, we could have a Candlekeep meet-up!

Could you ask if at what stage they're at in the Realms artwork?
Also, Schindehette had mentioned previously that he wanted to get down to some very fine detail when it comes to Realms NPCs--how two paladins of the same deity might look different, for example, when each comes from a different part of the Realms.
Is that still the track that they're on? Is there anything we ought to be looking forward to in terms of that level of detail in upcoming adventures or the first of the 5E Realms campaign books?
Looking forward to any info you can gather, Gray. Thanks for taking the time and have a lot of fun. |
Look for me and my content at EN World (user name: sanishiver). |

am kind of realms....out. I think it might be best, it seems that they are doing the press circuit so to speak to rehash the same ole thing, I think they are using the various con's as a speaker phone, and saving the new news for press releases and video clips it seems this time around. |

Please ask Jon if WotC has any pland to develop Abeir as its own Realmsian sub-setting, post-Sundering. Will it fade to obscurity? Or will it become its own setting?
If so, how different would the artistic feel of Abeir be from Toril? |

Seeing how little info was released on the Sudering/FR5E during the FR seminars at Gen Con, i don't expect much more will come out of Worldcon to be honest.
I predict it will focus on the storyline already as we know it and how you can shape the future of the realms in adventures, iOS game, MMO game Neverwinter and DDO, Arena of War etc... and the Facebook app. There might be slideshow of FR art concepts flowing behind. Also, the video of Isteval will probably played as well. |

Ah, but you underestimate my disarming demeanor and my powers of persuasion...
Actually, I am sure you are probably right. But you never know. I might be able to glean some interesting information.
Regardless, I'm still excited to meet the guy. I appreciate his enthusiasm, commitment and attention to detail in the art department. And his updates on the Wizards website about the art design of 5th edition are some of the best things on the site for the past few months. |
