Okay last attempt to drum up some interest.
Background story is this is set in the North (a bit i made up around the Cold Wood area).
The party originally were recruited in a tavern (cliche i know) as extra muscle on a guard patrol up the river banks because of rumoured orc attacks.
They encountered a barge being assaulted by a large group of orcs (50+).
The barge burned down and their commander in charge fled the scene, all the other guards were slaughtered due to the commanders poor leadership.
The party rescued the people from the burning barge and fled into the Cold Wood. After dodging orc hunting parties (from a different clan of orcs) they came across some elves and were escorted north to a human farm.
The human farm was also under attack from orcs and the party rescued the farmers family (but one of the party was infected with lycanthropy).
After the rescue everyone travelled to a mining village in the foothills of the mountains before travelling further south to the local town.
There they discovered the town was overflowing with gold seekers; apparently someone had been spreading rumours that it was falling out of rocks and the river.
The group signed on with the local sheriff to locate and destroy a bandit hideout and kill a dragon.
Taking the bandit job first they travelled back into the Cold Wood and discovered a run down keep, inside were a group of bandits that the party dispatched (the leaders escaped) and discovered plans that detailed an attack on the local town using humanoid tribes (orcs and hobgoblins).
The group returned with this news to the Sheriff and were directed towards the Count (the ruler of the region). He instructed the party to gather as many allies as they have and to quickly kill the dragon in the south to secure and escape route should it be needed. The attack was to begin in one month it seemed.
The party travelled south and found a tribe of hobgoblins worshipping a rather intelligent wyvern specimen. They waited until the tribe were asleep and snuck into the wyvern cave. It was a tough battle and the wyvern escape before it could be killed.
The party then travelled across the region and gathered the elves, the lycanthrope farmer, a local druid, and the miners together as allies before returning to the town.
The siege involved nearly 2000 orcs attacking the beleagered and starving peasants of the town with the party and its allies. Using all the resources available the party managed to fight of several waves of attacks against the walls from all sides of the town.
Finally the orcs broke through the gate using the wyvern and the party fought a final battle in the gatehouse. The party won the day and the orcs retreated.
For their troubles the party were given the abandoned keep in the Cold Wood to repair and rule over as a barons.
They undertook several quests, to clear the wood of enormous spiders, to eliminate orc tribes in the wood, and destroy and undead force attacking local farmers.
Finally the party were informed that the major orc cave complex had been discovered by the Count's men and that the party were to go in, kill the orcs and discover who had been organising the attacks on the region.
The party are currently searching this complex right now.
The roster includes an outcast Uthgardt barbarian who has an imaginary voice in his head that he talks to. A human knight that is the illegitimate child of the Count, a paranoid wizard that became dislodged in time after the Time of Troubles and is the nephew of the local wizard in the area, and an orc barbarian that subsumed leadership of the tribal orcs living in the Cold Wood.
Im pretty open for character ideas on race and class. If i have rules for it then you can be it, i do like to weave the characters into the existing story, and given that this is now heading underground races that are native to underground areas would be easiest to fit in.
I do hope someone is interested, i'm not above begging. |
