Do the devil lords and much along with Orcus, do much in faerun, or did they sort of show up for 1e and 2e and then fall the wayside to demons and the lords of hell?

**I am aware of the kingdom of (( amare I think?)) that had the king kill the lich that orcus was sponsoring.

they are still around battling each other, and messing with mortals souls.

the fiendish codex for 3.5 has more information on them, and the book of vile darkness i believe.

The kingdom was Damara, and Orcus was also predominant throughout the life of the Narfellian Empire. Also, if you look through the Grand History of the Realms, a couple of Orcus' lieutenants had interactions throughout the realms. In general though, his strenth has mostly been within the bloodstone lands.

In my Misbegotten Realms campaign, I've played-up this aspect, since now Hellgate Keep and Dragonspear Castle have moved (but still reside in the same proximity to each other). Those are the current two strongholds for the Faerûnian Bloodwar.

Szass Tam has dealings with Hellgate Keep (using some wee bit of the 4e lore here), and they are using each other to stem the expansion of the Tangg Lords (Demonspawn Tieflings) into the Swordcoast. I've blended together Thayan/normal FR history, Varissia history (Golarion), and the history in the Egg of Phoenix modules for this - thats where the term 'Tangg Lord' comes from.

Bear in mind my Swordcoast has replaced the Eastern Reach, and now resides east of Cormyr and The Dales. This makes Thay a major player in the area (and makes so much sense when I use the 4e stuff, like Neverwinter). Anauroch lies North of The Ruarin, so my 'Great Conflagration' happened between Netheril and Imaskar, NOT Narfell and Raumathar (which never rose to power in my version).

In fact, its because of Imaskari meddling that the elementals first became corrupted (and thus the Imaskari may have inadvertently created Demons... but not Daemons). Imaskar was responsible for much of the demon-stuff in FR, and Netheril the Hellish (Devil) stuff. At least, thats how I spun everything. Their War ended in the death of Mystryl, who was torn apart by the forces unleashed (which nearly destroyed Toril itself). Anauroch is now a deadly region of magical chaos (a'la Plaguelands/Mournland), and The Ruarin a blasted, desolate zone of dead-magic (with the exception of a few isolated locales, which are usually filled with magical chaos).

Anyhow, so Orcus is somewhat more important in my version... but there are other Fiend-lords who are far more prominent (including a few I stole from comics).
