Hi guys
Im doing a campaign in Halruaa and i got some trouble finding good side quests for my players ( they are lvl 2 ) to make and preparing then for the main part of the history.
They alredy explored the kilmaruu swamp and finished the expansion of it , im doing the campaign on the west side of halruaa beacuse the main part will be the fight against the Crinti ( i thought about then fighting the Yuan-ti on the east but this would be too much right now).
Anyone got any ideas about what can i do ?
One more question , im trying to make then see how halruaa is full of magic and everything have a touch of magic i used a lot that is on the Shining South but i think i can use a lot more. Any suggestions ?
Thanks for your attention!

A magical plague that makes it impossible to cast spells, that seems to be immune to any sort of healing magic (cast by priests).
In a related vein (and perhaps connected if you use both) - "The Nothing". A large, magic-dead area has formed off-shore, and its growing. So far it has engulfed one coastal village and magic no longer works there.
Shades are trying to steal (back - in their minds) Halruaa's magical secrets - several libraries and collections have been targeted already. Depending upon the strength of the party, this could just be one less powerful Shade with normal underlings, or one of the princes and an entourage of powerful followers. You could possible even steal Batman ideas for the villain (like a Prince who likes to leave riddles).
"I need this ingredient..." - a powerful Mage sends the party on a quest to find materials for something he is working on. He seems like a kindly old man... but thats the twist. They may find out too late what his 'true goal' is {insert true goal here}. |

My mistake here , they are at east next to Dambrath . West would be next to the Mhair jungle next where the Yuan-ti resides.
I forgot to mention that im playing the 3.5 edition too.

All of then are great ideas ! Im probably gonna put the Shade idea on the next session destroying the library on the village that they resides.
I didnt like the shadow weave idea (that`s on the Campaign Scenario book ) but its a good hook to get then to fight the crinti at The Nath. |

My first response would be; which Shining South are you looking at? There are 2, one is 2nd edition the other is 3rd. If you don't have both, that would be a good place to start. |

Sorry about the ressurection.
I started a new group , i couldn`t start the campaign with my old group , and i would like to see if anyone got anymore ideas for a side quest in Halruaa.
Right now they are persuing a Crinti , that killed a rich farmer of Haerlu , but this is just a way to prepare then for the main part of the campaign that im still preparing.
Im having some trouble creating "small quests" that they can do while they lvl up , at the moment they are still lvl 1 .
I really enjoyed the suggestions until now , i just want to get more ideas of what i can use. |
