I'm working on part of my campaign that is going to involve much ancient elven history and items. I was just wondering if anyone has done a conversion for the items in Cormanthyr: Empire of Elves. This includes the Kiira gems both lesser and greater. The version that is in the Magic of Faerun is a hacked, pale imitation of what it was originally.

I remember there was a module available for download that some players had made that detailed a conversion for items from both the Cormanthyr: Empire of Elves tome, and the Netheril: Empire of Magic tome. I'll see about finding an address for you...it was an ftp if I recall...

Thanks! That could save me a lot of time or at least give me some ideas on where to start. |

I liked the 3e Kiira, but I would love to see them in their full splendor (ie the 2nd edition Kiira's converted). |

There is also a brief mention of one in the Faiths and Pantheons, in the section under Places of Worship called 'The Wyvernstones of Hullack', specifically on page 179. |

Well, I thought I'd try to revive this post as I am also interested in the Kiira. Perhaps someone has updated information on these tasty little items?

Didn't Lost Empires of Faerun have something?
Aye, there is. They're updated in the "Artifacts of the Past" section of LEoF.

the tel kiiras are but not the seltulkira (sp?) i think those are in um one of the champion books are something. i was disappointed to not find the greater ones in leof especailly since it came out so close to the release of the last mythal book. |

Selu’Kiira would count as either a Minor Artifact or a Major Artifact, depending on the individual Selu’Kiira.
Just take the powers of an Telkiira and expand on them.
Here is an example of a very powerful Selu'Kiira that exists in my campaign.
Selu’Kiira of the Nightfirestar Family (Major Artifact) Only works for members of the Nightfirestar Family. All others are Feebleminded no save. Serves as a Lexicon with All Divine Spell. Serves as a Spellbook with All Arcane Spells. +16 Enhancement bonus to Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom. +20 Sacred bonus to Concentration, Knowledge (All), Spellcraft, and Bardic Knowledge checks. Constant at 40th level: Comprehend Languages, Detect Magic, Mind Blank, Read Magic, See Invisibility, Tongues, True Seeing. Mastery of Magic: All save DCs generated by magic items, use the wearer’s Charisma, Intelligence, or Wisdom. Unless the item is Intelligent or already has a higher save DC. Does not take up an Item Slot.

Wow! That's not a bad little trinket to have around! Is this item in the possession of one of your player's characters? Of what level is the character? One of my players is an elven wizard of the High Forest and I've been contemplating bringing a tel'kiira into the game. His family history is a bit of a question mark and I've been tossing around the idea of the party coming across a baelnorn guarding a crypt and having the baelnorn note a family resemblance of the character to a high mage known to her from a much earlier time, possibly the fallen elven kingdom of Siluvenede. I'm trying to think of a way to include the fey'ri or the Eldreth Veluuthra (sp?) as well. Anyways, any tips would be appreciated. BTW, I don't own a copy of Champions of Ruin, though I have flipped through it and saw the entries for the above power groups. |

It is in the possession of the mother of a former PC turned NPC. The PC started off originally in 1E and was played through 2E, and at the end was a level 50 Cleric/Fighter/Mage/Thief. |

GAH! I can't imagine trying to disagree with that character; at this point we're dealing with someone who can tell Cyric where she'd like him to shove it, and have a reasonable likelyhood of waking up in the morning. Add in the selu'kiira, and we're talking about someone who's conceivably on the short list to get an invitation to take up a portfolio. |

Is that 50 levels in each? If so, that item pretty much is a trinket! Anyways, if anyone saw my earlier post, I would really appreciate any input... Thanks |

Remember that this is a 1E/2E character though, for those "200 levels." Have made several attempts to translate her and her mother over to 3E, and they both would end up being 35+ in levels, with the mother actually being 50+. |

off topic but: at around 40+ ECL that character should be considered a god! |

But in general each Selu’Kiira could be considered a Minor Artifact at the very least. And as Artifacts, they don't need to follow the Item Creation rules. Just assign them abilities as appropriate to the power level that you want them to have.
The Selu’Kiira of the Nightfirestar Family, was made as an Epic Artifact.
One very easy way to tone it down to a more standard level is to make the Enhancement bonus for Int/Wis/Cha a +8 instead of +16. Make the Skill check bonus a +10 instead of +20. Make the caster level of the constant powers 20th level instead of 40th. And remove the Mastery of Magic ability.
Artifacts are at once the easiest and hardest items to create. Easy, because there are no real rules to follow for the most part. Hard, because you have to watch what you do with them. |
