I loved that book. It’s actually Chris’s very first Warhammer Fantasy novel.

You were right Dennis Duke Olasko is an intriguing character, I believe the third book is about him?
Yes. And you'll see more of him even after this series.

Feist is one of those rare gems who can make me like non-wizard characters.

Ah that's good to know. Just one more book with him would be disappointing , I really want to know what he gets up to in Novindus but am restraining myself until I get my hands on the third book.

Just started Fear to Tread a Horus heresy novel by James Swallow.
There are not that many books about the Blood angels and none in which their Primarch Sangiuinius plays a significant part so i hope this book doesn't disappoint.

Just finished The Crippled God, by Steven Erikson. That concludes the series. Holy Nine Hells! I'll need a nap after that one!

Now starting Brandon Sanderson's Elantris.

Sword of Vengeance by Chris Wraight

The epic conclusion to Sword of Justice. This paragraph should give you some scope of this story.

"You will take my armies, Volkmar. Empty the Reikland if you have to. The gold in the reserves is yours. Take warrior priests and the holiest devotees of Sigmar. Take magisters from the colleges, war engines and artillery. Take veteran regiments and a core of knights. This is no suppression of a minor rebellion. This is a new war and needs a new army."

Great conclusion to my favorite Warhammer story to date. Though, in truth, my brain has a hard time processing just what 40'000 troops look like. :P)

Elantris is a fantastic standalone book, though I would love a follow-up sequel from Sanderson in the near future.

I'm very nearly finished with the Hero of Ages - about 50 pages. Sadly, I've not had the time to read a lot lately. The Mistborn trilogy must be my favorite fantasy series to date. The twists and turns! Great stuff.

After this I will probably delve into Brimstone Angels: Lesser evils and then on to Warbreaker by Sanderson - the magic system intrigued me (what Sanderson novel's magic system has not?).

I agree with you on Elantris. Great magic system and story. I believe his novella The Emperor's Soul is set in the same world with the same magic system. Might even be a prequel of sorts, not sure.

I am halfway through The Way of Kings. Enjoying it a great deal.

Great twists, indeed.

Since you've read The Alloy of Law, you probably know by now who the Hero of Ages actually is.

Is this your first trip through the world of Malaz?

This is my first time in Malaz. I felt bad for Felisin at first. Then she turned into a whinning cynic.

I just finished The Warhound and the World's Pain by Michael Moorcock. If you're interested in playing a cleric, I'd recommend you give this one a read.

The story is set in Europe during the Thirty Years' War. The protagonist is Captain Ulrich von Bek, a Lutheran who is struggling with his faith in light of the atrocities he has seen Christians commit in the war.

von Bek finds a forest and a castle, both seemingly uninhabited. He meets the castle's owner, Sabrina. Sabrina is a witch, who introduces von Bek to her master, the fallen angel Lucifer.

von Bek is coerced into seeking out the Holy Grail for Lucifer, the Cure for the World's Pain. The rest of the story detail's von Bek's quest through Europe and the Mittelmarch to seek the Grail. His enemy is Klosterheim, a disciple of Arioch who masquerades as a Knight of Christ and carries out atrocities to shake peoples' faith in Christ.

As I said, its great if you're into pacts and clerical magic.

I'm attempting to go a completely different way with my reading, now, by catching up with the New 52[+/- 2 or 5]'s Batman book. It's embarrassing for me to admit in conversation with my fellow comic book nerds that I've only now just finished the "Court of Owls" storyline.

On the recommendation of a friend (and former Marine) I check out With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa by E.B. Sledge.

What an amazing book.

I've since moved on to a book I found at a local antique shop: The Boys' Second Book of Great Detective Stories.

Look for me and my content at EN World (user name: sanishiver).

Oooo! I've actually had this book offered to me on a recommendation as well. Have either you or your friend provided a review that I might be able to peruse before I [eventually] tackle this book myself?

So I finished Fear to Tread yesterday, a very good book one of my favorite Horus heresy era novels.
It starts not with a sort of horror vibe with the loyalist Blood angels legion encountering the foulness of Chaos for the first time but the action becomes with epic in the second half with an entire legion of a 100000 space marines pitted against an army of daemons.
I look forward to more epic tales featuring this legion and their noble primarch now. Frankly they were hardly a legion in which I had anything more than a vague interest in before this novel.

Finished Dragons of the Highlord Skies, today, and started Dragons of Winter Night. I would have already been done with this one, but I had a digestive rebellion this weekend that flat out knocked me down, and the normally scheduled reading was pre-empted by the festivities.
