Alright, I've got to give WotC some props for this... Guy loses his RPG collection in the flooding caused by Sandy, one of his friends pinged WotC, and WotC sent the guy a big box of stuff.
WotC sends Sandy Victim GM a Christmas shocker!
There are also some pics...
Now, I'll admit, when I lost everything in a fire, I happened into a really good deal on the game material, and an author who prefers to remain anonymous sent me pretty much all of their written works. And that was most cool. But now I'm wishing I'd thought to go to the source!

Saw this on G+ a little while ago and love that WotC were able to help out where they could. It speaks volumes about the staff of WotC.
It is also fortunate coincidence WotC reprinted two older editions recently, meaning they had three editions of D&D in stock to help rebuild the DM's library. |

But seriously, having gone through something similar myself (almost two years ago now), I know how the guy felt. It feels like a piece of your life has been ripped away.
Kudos to WotC. Well done.
Not to turn this happy thread dark, but we here in 'the zone' have decided FEMA is completely useless. Common citizens (and yes, that includes those WotC guys) have done more for everbody then the Gov't has - they just sit in their trucks and 'plan'. Seriously. It sucks.
To anyone who helped in anyway, I just like to say Thank You from all of here at ground zero. The outpouring has been awesome, truly. |

For me? Not bad at all. I lost cable for a week, that was it. It meant no TV, phone, or Internet, but since we still had power we could play non-internet based video games and we still had cellphones so we barely noticed.

Like I said, I was one of the lucky ones. I had a couple of huge trees come down in my backyard but they missed everything (and now I got LOTS of firewood). EVERYONE had trees in their yard - most weren't so lucky. The worst part (for me) was getting around that first week, between the gas shortages and all the road closures. I am glad the worst is over now (but not for the people along the coast - thats going to take at least a year or more). There are entire neighborhoods just GONE now, and in a few cases there isn't even land there anymore (we lost a lot coastline).
It is what it is - you get so numb seeing this stuff on TV all the time; its a lot different when it happens to you. |

Kudos to WotC, indeed.
I'm half thinking I should move somewhere with more natural disasters, just to score a box of D&D goodies! Vancouver does not suffer from hurricanes, tornadoes, monsoons, flooding, firestorms, volcanoes, earthquakes, plagues of locusts ... no dams and dykes to burst, not too much of the cityscape at low elevations. All we get is tons of bad weather, seasonal temperature extremes, and a few weeks of exciting colourful lightning storms.
