Since it has been revealed that the WotC Realms people actually pay attention to the forums, I started this thread to ask them to bring Elaine back. Stop by and lend your support!

I added my voice.

I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of this thread.

According to her own words, it was she who cancelled her last project for WotC. She wasn't 'fired' (not that that even applies to a freelancer).

She has even stated that she would consider doing another book in the future if the project interested her.

Agreed, MT. Given the sales of her FR novels, WotC must have approached her to do some more projects, which probably didn't interest her...

Every beginning has an end.

If I were a betting man, I'd say she isn't the type to 'stick to the script'. She's more of a 'free spirit' (or to keep the script analogy going, she prefers 'improv').

So when a pile of unappealing lore is shoveled in front of her, and they ask, "can you make this pretty?", she is polite enough to tell everyone (including us) that "things just didn't gel", or some-such.

Which is well-bred lady-speak for "I ain't going near that horse-hockey!"

Pure conjecture, of course. I just don't think she wanted to be up on that same cross Lisa Smedman got nailed to.

Well in any case, I definitely support more Elaine. She "gets" the Realms as Ed envisions it, and that's the highest compliment I can pay a fantasy author.

She herself did say she probably wouldn't be writing for 5e, but that doesn't mean we can't send her support and let her know we miss her voice in the Realms!

While I miss one of the finest authors the Realms ever had (in my top three, if not my tippy-top), I completely respect her decision to move on. She expressed interest in creating her own setting, and I think thats a fantastic idea. More power to her.

We needn't 'miss' Elaine Cuningham... we just have to seek her wonderful stories elsewhere. Talent like that can't be kept down.

I'm with Markustay... Even if I crave for reading the conclusion of some open threads, and would love to see some unrevealed plots written by Mrs. Cunningham herself, I can only respect her time and decisions, waiting, while I read other works she masterfully does outside of FR, and seek old stuff I still haven't read for one reason or another. Sometimes I re-read what I've already read in the past, for her books are so amazing that sometimes I forget their rich details, other times I read them to burrow some ideas to my games.

I agree, and so I always tell it to HER, not to Wizards of the Coast.
