Hi all,

I just wanted to offer a brief word about my recent behavior on the boards. Specifically, I've unintentionally offered offense a couple times and overstepped myself in at least one instance where I borrowed from a post without permission or consultation.

I want to apologize for these things. I've been emotionally compromised the last few weeks due to family crisis, and it sometimes comes out in unexpected ways. Thanks to everyone who's been patient with me.

My goal on the Keep is to support this setting we all love, and while we may not always agree, I respect and value all of your voices. The Realms doesn't belong to me, or WotC, or any of the designers/authors working in it. It belongs to all of us, and my highest priority and directive is making the setting open, accessible, and welcoming to all.

Cheers

You need permission from a person to quote them? Dang... just about all of us needs to get banned (LOL- Wooly and Sage can ban each other).

But seriously, sometimes you quote a person to make a point. I used to do the point-by-point 'quotey thing', but over the years I have found it is way too confrontational, so I avoid it at all costs now. It was a bad habit I picked-up on Gamewinners (where mods openly battled with each other, banning and un-banning folks on a whim), and I hopefully have broken myself from it (except in very specific cases where I feel its absolutely necessary).

Anyhow, you have to be one of the mildest, laid-back dudes I ever met Erik. I can't speak for anyone else, but I really think you of all people have nothing to apologize for.

Now me... I could spend the rest of my life apologizing and never get done...

<scruffy bearded old wizard sporting a stinking cigar seized the keyboard>

Hrast, Lad, don't be apologizin' for saying what ye think. Amidst all the naed going on in this world of ours, a little bit of speaking yer tluining mind is appreciated. Be glad yer not me, because I'm apt to tell some individuals ta go sabruin themselves whenever they get me temper up. Still, telling someone to stick their stlarning head in a bowl of runny naed is much better than doing the laying waste with chained blue lightnings that I want to.... hmmm, what's that smell

<wafting smell of chocolate-banana muffins comes from the kitchen>

Sorry, sometimes Sleyvas reads over my shoulder and just takes over when I'm not looking. I dare not yell at him... I mean, Elminster's nice to Ed from what I see.... Sleyvas is a grumpy <footsteps return down the hall> ummm, nevermind.

"borrowed from a post" is not the same as quoted in a reply. Not sure of what incident referred to, however well try to respect copy right, which is why my sig. offers the source. Erik I suspect clearly respect copyright more then even I do, it earns him money.

"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.

Pretty much what Markustay said. We're all here to discuss and hopefully help build a better 5E Realms.

I have no tolerance for rude or mean people. It's not you who should be apologizing.

At any rate, everyone put their Viking helmet back on because we gots more work to do!

Thanks for the support guys, but really, don't jump in to defend me. I did wrong, and I sincerely want to apologize for it. I borrowed a post from a poster who wanted nothing to do with my thread, and even though I largely agreed with the opinions presented (and offered solutions), it was still wrong of me. I took down the post, sent an apology pm, and of course posted this thread.

Apologies again.

Cheers

Erik, if it would help you feel better....the least we could do for you is accept a free , new short story?

Erik I'm not exactly sure what it is you need to apologize for.

I don't think anyone who's been here more than a day doubts you've always had good intentions. If anyone has a problem with you, they should at least have the good sense to 1) take a breath before posting and 2) take it to PMs instead of ripping you publicly and churning out more useless forum drama.

We're here to discuss the Realms. Statements in one scroll that are topical in another scroll are fair game to quote. It's always been that way.

If people have a problem with that, this probably isn't the forum space for them to hang out in.

Please note I'm not challenging your point of view, Erik.

Again, thanks for the support (though for the record, getting fired up on my behalf isn't the best way to be supportive), but I'm a mature adult, I know when I've done wrong, and I am publicly apologizing for it. This is not directed at anyone in particular.

I just wanted folks to know what was up with me, and to issue a blanket statement that if I've rubbed you the wrong way, this is why (family crisis is my explanation, not an excuse by any means), I am deeply sorry for it.

Let's move on.

Mods, please lock this thread.
