So to sum up.... A RSE is anything that pi$$es you off....and almost unpredictable until implemented. Unless Wotc wants to do a poll on what would tick you off the most if we did it to the realms...then avoid the top answers.
I'm glad it's not my job to walk through this minefield. |

I define RSE as any novel in which the scope does or has to potential to affect Faerun as we know it and for many people.
For instance. If the good guys lose the world may end, but they win and everything fine. Still a RSE.
As for destruction is concerned, I find it tough to support certain destroyed cities as potential RSE. Neverwinter (as someone said here) was rebuilt pretty quick. Same with Nesme, and Zhentil Keep during Avatar series.
Defining RSE reminds me of trying to define "Epic"
RSE novels that others may haven't mentioned. -All Lisa Smednan books, as House of Serpents Dendar would eat the world, In Lady Penitent series theres many drow deity deaths as well as a change to a number of drow, and Gilded Ruin, there's an attempted assignation of head of the dwarven pantheon.

LOL - so 4th edition was an RSE?
Sorry, that was just too good a setup... |

| Some "RSE" definitions were attempted in this old scroll ... at least until it became a rather heated discussion, attracted some trolls, and was sealed. |

Pretty sure that scroll was not sealed... Or if it was, it was later reopened. |

Thrasymachus's definition is pretty good.
I consider ToT and Spellplague Realms Shaking Events. WotSQ, Last Mythal and the Archwizards are Region Shaking Events in my book. So is Lady Penitent. |
