This might be a strange and vague request but are there any products in D&D, sourcebooks and the like that have material on the process of wizards learning magic, gods in avatar state or gods being summoned and/or manifesting on the material plane?

This is a request from my sibling but she has not specified whether it need be material from 3rd or 4th edition or even pathfinder so feel free to suggest whichever applies. She is preferential to the forgotten realms, so those are what's desired.
