Greetings, scribes! I've been an FR fan for some time, but my foruming has always been over on the wotc forums. Same username, for my fellow wotc forumites.
I'm a big fan of Erik SDB's work in FR, Kemp's Cale books, some RAS works, and Ed's Elminster books.
Oh, and I'm in love with the 4e Realms. Imaskar, Calimshan, the cold war with Shade, neverwinter. Someone needs to do an article or story featuring shaundekul, though. Only god I miss that's not being dealt with by someone already.

Welcome.
18D at your service. |
"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding." Alaundo of Candlekeep |

Welcome to Candlekeep, badwolf.
Erik Scott de Bie, Paul S Kemp, Ed Greenwood (via proxy), and many other Realms authors and designers regularly interact informally with the scribes here in the Interrogation Chamber, er Chamber of Sages. You might find the lore you seek has already been discussed in great depth, although I recommend directing search imperatives through google - example 1, example 2 - because the keep's search genie is rather easily confused. Alaundo's public-private library is a superb source of Realmslore.

Welcome to Candlekeep!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the welcome! 18D, good to see ya! A friendly face is always a welcome way to enter a new site.
For a while, I actually avoided these forums because I had gotten the impression, from people on other forums, that my enjoyment of the 4e Realms would not be welcome here. :P I'm glad to see, with a quick perusal, that I'm not entirely alone. :)
