Hmm...I'd heard about this list on the 3rd, but didn't have access to the internet to post it here (good catch Rad ).
For me at least, the Planar Handbook and Serpent Kingdoms hold the most interest, but that really shouldn't surprise anybody here.
What I do know, or rather have learnt, is that the Planar Handbook is supposed to be (in part) the revised MotP 3e...let's just hope Sigil gets more of a mention that just one sentence...some factions would be nice also.

I really want the Serpent Kingdoms to be good and something I not only pick up but don't return. Yuan-Ti are linked to some current and future ideas I have in my FR world so this product fascinates me a great deal. |

Here's a little more information I was able to pick up on forthcoming releases, over at En World.
It builds upon what Rad has already presented -
Complete Divine: A Player's Guide to Divine Magic for all Classes David Noonan
The most detailed resource ever released on accessing divine power and divine favor in the D&D world. Complete Divine provides Dungeon & Dragons players with an in-depth look at how to gain the favor of the gods and use that power to a character's advantage. There is a rundown of new gods in the D&D pantheon, in addition to new feats, spells, prestige classes, and magic items. In addition, this title adds new and revised base classes to a player's character choices, and clerics in particular are provided with many new and updated spell domains and spells. This title also contains a wealth of material for non-clerics, so the tips and data provided will assist all class types, including those classes not typically associated with garnering divine power.
Planar Handbook: A Players Guide to the Planes Bruce R. Cordell, Gwendolyn F.M. Kestrel
A complete guide to integrating planar travel into any D&D campaign. This new guidebook is specifically designed to make travel to other planes of existance an easy part of any D&D campaign. The rules are written in a modular fashion, allowing players and Dungeon Masters alike the ability to choose only the material suited to their current campaign. Considered a complementary product to Manual of the Planes, this title contains a wealth of new material, including new rules subsets, player races, feats, spells, magic items, equipment, and vehicles.
Races of Stone Jesse Decker, Michelle Lyons, David Noonan
A new D&D sourcebook detailing various mountain-dwelling races. Races of Stone provides D&D players with an in-depth look at races that live on, under, or around mountains in the D&D world. There is extensive information on the classic races of gnomes and dwarves, including new rules, information for interaction, new spells, and new magic items attuned to each race. In addition, there are new races, over 20 new prestige classes, over 40 new feats, new equipment, and new magic items.
Serpent Kingdoms Ed Greenwood, Eric L. Boyd, Darrin Drader
A new sourcebook that details various serpentine races throughout the Forgotten Realms. This rules supplement provides a wealth of highly detailed information about all serpent-related creatures in the Forgotten Realms. Popular races such as the yuan-ti, naga, dragons, and various lizard races are explored at great length, with new monsters and new characters, deities, prestige classes, magic, and magic items tied to each race. (What, no feats?) In addition, many of the regions to which serpent folk are indigenous are explored in detail, some for the first time in a Forgotten Realms product.
Eberron Campaign Setting Keith Baker, Bill Slavicsek, James Wyatt
An entirely new campaign setting for the D&D roleplaying game. During the spring and summer of 2002 Wizards of the Coast put out a request to the gaming community for propasals for a new D&D game setting. 11,000 propasals and two years of development later, the Eberron Campaign Setting is the result of that search. This brand new setting for the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game is an avenue for any D&D fan to experience swashbuckling adventure laced with intrigue and explore mysterious new territories ravaged by war. At its heart, the setting remains true to the D&D game, yet brings it to life in a way never before imagined. Designed to introduce a fresh, new world with unlimited possibilities for exploration, the Eberron Campaign Setting includes everything needed to develop characters and run campaigns in this exciting new arena. It includes new character races, monsters, prestige classes, feats, organizations, and equipment to the world, and it introduces a new base class to the D&D game. It contains substantial information on new elements of magic, including spells, domains, items, artifacts, and more. Also included are historical and cultural details of the world, along with extensive illustrations and a wealth of maps that put the setting into vivid context. This title will also include both adventure hooks and a full adventure so players and Dungeon Masters can immediately begin enjoying everything this rich new setting has to offer.
Shadows of the Last War Keith Baker
The first adventure for the brand-new Eberron campaign setting This full-length adventure for the newest D&D campaign setting is designed to showcase many of the most unique traits of the Eberron setting. It will play out across the entire face of the Eberrron realm and is designed to either be a stand-alone adventure or an immediate follow-up to the short adventure provided in the Eberron Campaign Setting.
Another interesting tidbit (of course, you'll only find this interesting if, like me, you are an Alternity fan) was this little piece of information -
One of the authors of D20 Future, Moridin, let slip in this thread that material from the long gone but loved Alternity game system and it's popular setting Star*Drive would be included in the upcoming D20 Modern supplement D20 Future.
Sounds great huh???

Very much looking forward to Complete Divine and the Planar Handbook. Might fill in some of the gaping holes in the MotP. I think I'll skip Eberron. With my regular FR campaigns, and the work on Aslari to be done, no reason to add something new to the pot. Serpent Kingdoms sounds good. Hopefully, it'll have more fluff over krunch. |

Ditto. The more I hear about this new setting, the more I think....this beat out Dawnforge or Morningstar? Both of which sound much better than Eberron. |

Hmmm. Some interesting sounding stuff in there
I like the sound of Serpent Kingdoms - always liked throwing Yuan-ti at my party since one of the players suffers from a phobia of snakes
The "Thirty Years of Adventure" book sounds worth a look as well.

That's just sadistic and cruel. I like it! Good job. |

Ed tells me Serpent Kingdoms has feats, and deals with more than just yuan-ti, but ALSO told me who wouldn't divulge anything more, so I should stop asking. He also mentioned that working with Eric Boyd is "wonderful: the man is pure gold." |

Anybody hear anything about whether Complete Divine will have any tie-ins with the Forgotten Realms? I know that Complete Warrior at least tipped its hat with the Purple Dragon Knight and Thayan Knight. I'm just curious to see if the same will be done with the Complete Divine.

Probably. Tipped its hat? I know some who say, they "stole" good FR prestige classes that have some flavor to beef up their generic book. |

Done right, the Yuan-ti can be the most vicious opponents PC's can go up against so I'm looking forward to the Serpent Kingdoms. Of course, Races of Stone will rock! Pun intended. |

Seems I need to go over to the novels section and retract some of my questions dealing with lizardfolk! Can't wait until this book comes out... |
I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be. (Strikes dramatic pose, raises sword to gleam in the sunset, and hopes breeches won’t fall down.) Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . . So saith Ed. <snip> love to all, THO

For those who don't wish to visit the board that shall not be named, here's the SK information from Mat Smith per Hom's link:
quote:
Hey guys.
I'm glad the stuff you saw in the latest In the Works has got you excited about the book.
Rest assured that Serpent Kingdoms is an FR book from page one all the way to page one hundred ninety-two. (With a layover in chapter seven for a tour of Hlondeth and several other "Realms of the Serpentfolk.")
I just wanted to make sure that non-FR-playing folk out there get the idea that just because it says Forgotten Realms on the cover doesn't mean that just about all of the stuff inside wouldn't work (without any changes) in any other campaign--whether they're playing in Greyhawk, Eberron, DL, or a homebrewed campaign setting.
As Bocklin pointed out, the book offers a lot of information about "all things with scales." That's what makes it useful to everyone.
It's all the other information about what the scalykind are up to (and where) that really nestles Serpent Kingdoms into the Forgotten Realms. (And between Ed, Eric, and Darrin, you can be sure that it's FR through and through.)
You can look for a little more insight into the sarrukh in next month's In the Works, but you'll have to flip through the book to find out all the stuff that really makes them disturbing to have lurking in the shadows of Faerun.
Mat

Has anyone heard of a street date for SK? I know what the online stores state, but they are not always reliable. |
