I'd like to know about adventuring parties that became famous in the Realms. It can even be the "bad" kind of fame. Please give me name of the band, or if it has none, name of the leader. Give the name of the book where I can learn more about them. No novels, I don't read those.

| lol, no novels? Sometimes you can get better info from those when compared to the "non fiction" realms books. Knights of Myth Drannor? |

The 2nd edition "Hall of Heroes" has some adventuring companies in the back (including Knights of Myth Drannor with a full write up on the members and some of their exploits) and stats for "groups" of adventurers featured in the novels throughout a little more loosely organized (Companions of the Hall, the Moonshae High King group, Finder's Stone Group, etc.)

The Company of the Catlash (Ruins of Myth Drannor) - An all female band of adventurers.
The Masked Marauders (Ruins of Myth Drannor) - A rather nasty foursome.
The Kneebreakers (The Bloodstone Lands, FR9) - A group of Halflings.
I haven't gone for the obvious ones like The Knights of Myth Drannor or the Company of Eight (Detailed in Hall of Heroes, TSR 9252).
If this is helpful i'm sure I can dig through my collection of sourcebooks for more. |

The Puppetmasters (Four from Cormyr) - A morally ambiguous group of former entertainers.
The Golden Gauntlets (Four from Cormyr) - Only two members are detailed, a Paladin and a Bard.
The Emerald Swords (Four from Cormyr) - Another morally ambiguous group.
The Stag Runners (Four from Cormyr) - Not too sure about this lot... the info is vague.
The Wolfmasters (Four from Cormyr) - Slaughtered in the Vast Swamp by a Baatezu.
The Ruby Blades (Four from Cormyr) - Investigating the disappearance of the Wolfmasters.
The Stalking Sword (Ruins of Undermountain) - Quite a nasty bunch that preys on other, weaker, adventuring bands.
Company of Crazed Venturers (City of Splendors, Boxed Set) - Now disbanded but they were very active in Waterdeep.
The Deep Delvers (City of Splendors, Boxed Set) - Bored Waterdhavian nobles who delved into Undermountain for a bit of fun.
Foes of the Fang (City of Splendors, Boxed Set) - A group of Vampire hunters formed in Waterdeep.
Knights of the Sword Coast (City of Splendors, Boxed Set) - Active for about two decades throughout the Savage Frontier.
Twilight Hunters (City of Splendors, Boxed Set) - They own a Tavern on Nindabar Street in the North Ward of Waterdeep.
I'll keep looking but i've gotten distracted by bits that i've not read for ages |

I seem to remember that there was a group called The Buckleswashers and their catchphrase was something like "Only small humanoids need apply", I can't remember where they are from though... hopefully a scribe with a better memory can help?
Mane's Band (Old Grey Box) - The leader, Mane, was a former resident of Shadowdale.
Company of the Hippogriff (Old Grey Box) - Operates in the Inner Sea lands on a mercenary basis.
Company of the Dragon (Old Grey Box) - Sent from Hillsfar to meet with representatives of the Elven Court.
Company of the Gryphon (Old Grey Box) - A mercenary company of some thirty members.
The Hunt (Old Grey Box) - Very scant info. Last seen in Tilverton.
Company of the Cloak (Old Grey Box and Power of Faerun) - Formed in Scornubel.
Company of the Wolf (Old Grey Box) - Trackers and guides operating near Silverymoon.
The Four (Old Grey Box) - Highly mercenary, expelled from Waterdeep by Khelben.
Halfling Inc. (Old Grey Box) - Active in the Sea of Fallen Stars area. Yep, all Halflings.
The Men of the Basilisk (Old Grey Box) - Powerful merchants with a taste for adventure.
The Purple Flame (Old Grey Box) - Based in a keep near Soubar.
The Savage Seven (Old Grey Box) - Active in the north against Giants and Goblinkind.
The Swords of Leilon (Old Grey Box) - Based in a small coastal town in Leilon.
The Valiant Warriors (Old Grey Box) - Based in Telflamm.
I just realised why I love the Old Grey Box soooo much |

| Neat lists, Farrel. What was the group that Alias was a part of (in her mind) that was all female and frequented the Old Skull? That would have been a cool group to read about. |

Was it the Company of Swanmays? That seems to ring a bell... maybe not the right bell though? |

| Sounds right to me, but I'd have to crack open the Azure Bonds book to read it. That was a great novel! And fun Gold Box game :P |

| Just to nitpick, I believe Halflings, Inc. is actually quite infamous, at least within Cormyr. |

Nitpick away the more info the better
I was just drawing from the writeup they received in The Cyclopedia of the Realms, from the Old Grey Box (page 19).
A couple more...
The Black Gauntlet (Pages from the Mages) - Slayers of Chathuuladroth (A Black Dragon), now disbanded.
The Company of Seven Stars (Pages from the Mages) - Very little info, known to have guarded caravans near Neverwinter.
Unnamed adventuring band (Pages from the Mages) - Leader: Peregar "The Invisible" - Vanished in a ball of blue flame, north of Yartar, and the adventuring band scattered.
On a somewhat unrelated note...
Digging through my collection i've just come across one of my favorite FR sourcebooks, The Savage Frontier (FR5, by Paul Jaquays).
I've just spent 10mins reading all the diary entries that are scattered within the sourcebook, concerning Amelior Amanitas, The Sage of Secomber, and his assistant Erek. If you fancy a laugh, and have a copy, give it a read... it's damn funny and gives a good idea of a bumbling, but well meaning, magic user. |

Do a search on Adventuring Companies. We've had three threads devoted to compiling lists of various types of groups. |

Halflings with one gnome, who uncovered lots of un-nobley schemes performed by Watderdhavian Nobles
