I think what he's doing is taking the traditional FR Undermountain, compiling all the material he has, and making it into an 'infinite dungeon' for his home game (which is a Pathfinder RPG variant).
Doesn't sound like anything more serious than deciding to play the Realms using Pathfinder rules to me. Happens all the time.
