I'm having troubles building a complete timeline for the novels. I've gotten all but a couple dozen figured out, mostly from o-love.net and the Forgotten Realms Timeline (http://www.wizards.com/forgottenrealms/fr_timeline.asp) over at Wizards.com, but am having troubles with the following, mostly because I don't currently have access to them. If anyone can help out with what years the books take place in, I'd appreciate it.

Sword of the Gods
"Empty Joys" from The Best of the Realms I
Everything from Realms of the Arcane
Everything from Realms of the Underdark
Everything from Realms of Magic
Everything from Realms of Infamy
Everything from The Best of the Realms II
Everything from The Best of the Realms III
"Iruladoon" from Realms of the Dead
The Captive Flame
Whisper of Venom
The Spectral Blaze
The Fall of Highwatch
Hand of the Hunter
Cry of the Ghost Wolf
Neversfall
Crypt of the Moaning Diamond
The God Catcher
Circle of Skulls
The Crystal Mountain
Unbroken Chain: The Darker Road
The Stowaway
The Shadowmask
The Sentinels
The Edge of Chaos
Dawnbringer
Sandstorm

As I said, I'd already gathered what information I could from o-love.net, which is where that link leads.

A number of those are detailed here at Candlekeep via the following page.

http://www.candlekeep.com/index.html

Scroll down to the FR Novel Reading Order file/link and that should provide some details you're after; I doubt too many folks have gone in and tinkered or changed the continuity or timing since I did that file back in the late '90's, so the data should still be viable.

Would you be able to provide a more direct link to the resource in question? The only list of novels available from the home page is the Forgotten Realms Bibliography, and that doesn't include in-world dating.

Thanks,
Cronje

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

As I said in my original post, I exhausted the resources of both the FR timeline at Wizards and the one at o-love.net.

I can help with RAS's stories in that list. Check out my RAS Comprehensive Chronology, linked in my sig below.

"Empty Joys" from The Best of the Realms I
Winter, late 1367 / early 1368 DR

Servant of the Shard ends in late summer, and then the short story "That Curious Sword" takes place a couple of months later in 1367 DR. That sounds like autumn, 1367 DR, to me. "Empty Joys" has no specific date clues within it, but the next story, "Wickless in the Nether", is clearly dated in 1368 DR, during the rainy season. That's spring, in the Bloodstone Lands. Promise of the Witch-King picks up after the rains have slacked off in the early summer. So "EJ" takes place some time right between those two short stories.

Everything from Realms of the Underdark
The short story "The Fires of Narbondel", by Mark Anthony
1309 DR

Drizzt is 11 years old, here. My research indicates that he was born in early 1298 DR, which points to "TFON" taking place in 1309 DR.

If you prefer TSR's/WOTC's official, arbitrary birthyear for Drizzt in 1297 DR, then "TFON" would be set in 1308 DR.

Everything from Realms of Magic
The short story "Guenhwyvar", by RAS
Spring-summer, 253 DR

The story is clearly dated in 253 DR, and its events take place from spring through summer.

Everything from Realms of Infamy
The short story "The Third Level", by RAS
1341 DR, after the early spring rains

Artemis Entreri was said to have seen 4 decades of life in SOTS & "EJ", in 1367 DR. This indicates he was born ~1327 DR. In "TTL", he is 14 years old. This indicates a time setting of 1341 DR for "TTL".

The sourcebook Empire of the Sands tells us that Calimshan's rainy season is winter through early spring. There is no mention of rain during the months that are covered in "TTL", so this would indicate that "TTL" must have taken place after the spring rains had ended.

"Iruladoon" from Realms of the Dead
Spring, between 1390 & 1395 DR

This story takes place in a spring season, at some point during the waning years of the Spellplague, the major events of which took place from 1385 to 1395 DR.

The official dateline in the story mistakenly sets the story in "the waning years of the Post-Spellplague" (italics mine). That doesn't make sense, though, for if the Spellplague drew to a close in 1395 DR, and the present time of 4E is 1479 DR, then what would the "waning years" of the open-ended, never-ending, post-Spellplague period even be?

Methinks that should be read as "the waning years of the Spellplague", period.

The Stowaway
The Shadowmask

1362 DR

Most of the events in these two novels take place concurrently with the main action of the novel The Halfling's Gem, in the latter half of 1356 DR. However, the "Part" expositions of the books are set 6 years later, with the protagonist talking about the other events in flashback. This indicates that the current time of these two novels--when Maimun is telling his tale of the past--is actually 1362 DR.

The Sentinels
NA

Sorry, I haven't read this one yet, so I can't confirm whether it is set at the same time as the last two novels.

"'You don't know my history,' he said dryly."
--Drizzt Do'Urden (The Pirate King, Part 1: Chapter 2)
