I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be. (Strikes dramatic pose, raises sword to gleam in the sunset, and hopes breeches won’t fall down.) Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . . So saith Ed. <snip> love to all, THO

Before the WotC-bashing gets started... Have there been any confirmations of these rumored layoffs? And has the reasoning for Bill Slavicsek's departure been given?
I just want to make sure, before the "WotC is t3h evil!!!11BBQ" routine gets started up yet again, that we have more than rumors and assumptions.
Also, if there has been another round of layoffs, it's not necessarily indicative of problems at WotC. This could have been planned months ago or more, as business needs shifted -- not necessarily diminished, but shifted. WotC could be placing a greater emphasis on other areas, making these positions unneeded, for example, with plans to hire new people to fill new positions.
We need more info to know what's really going on, and unless one of these folks speaks out, I don't think that info will be forthcoming. |

See, I'm not convinced, here. I'm not ready to assume he was laid off, because this blurb is vague enough that just about anything can be read into it. Maybe he's retiring. Maybe he's looking for greener pastures. Maybe WotC said "Clean out your desk" and he's too classy to fire a parting shot. Maybe he's got something else lined up already... It's too vague to be definitive. I need something more concrete. |

But, but WotC bashing is so much fun!
It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
5E announcement next GENCON...
On a serious note. Maybe it was time for a change for Bill. Good luck Bill. Let the other forums spazz out. I can just imagine how the 4E General forums at the WotC Boards are taking this, should be fun... |

Paul S. Kemp also posted a comment on Facebook and Twitter calling it a lay-off. I am willing to believe that it may not be a lay off, but it would not surprise me in the least if it was. |

I'm still trying to find out for sure if anyone besides Bill S. is leaving. Anybody know? |

The Thread in the 4E General Forums was fun and informative.
Monte Cook tweeted that Michele Cater and Steven Shubert were also let go. |

Meh, people come and people go. Bill was one of the 4E originals and I don't think he was let go with bad-blood between him and WotC. At least, thats not what was stated by him in his farewell letter. He might want to do other things and if he's held by contract by WotC not too or to give more attention to 4E and D&D in genearl, he may not want to commit more to it.
As for the other two, I'm not too familiar with them so their passing goes with a *shrug and hardy fare-well!* |

That's confirmation enough for me.
Two people being let go at the same time a third leaves makes me think three layoffs. No proof, obviously, but that's pushing it, for coincidence. |

Hey It is D&D, no longer any Edition, just the game will evolve.
Hey they did promise no more Editions that you might recall. |
"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards." "Caring for afterwards ...? From what I found out is that Bill and Michelle are married.
It also looks like the Paizo thread on this topic got closed.
