Is Faerun 3.5 out yet? Is it worth getting? (I'm going to get it anyway...don't know why I even asked that...)

My latest Realms-based short story, about a bard, a paladin of Lathander and the letter of the law, Debts Repaid. It takes place before the "shattering" and gives the bard Arion a last gasp before he plunges into the present.http://candlekeep.com/campaign/logs/log-debts.htm |

It's coming out March 2003. Actually, WotC's first quarter releases look quite good. The Expanded Psionics Handbook, Unearthed Arcana, and the Player's Guide to Faerun all look quite good, in addition to the smaller folio releases(3.5 character sheets and DM's screen etc.). Most useless release: The D20 Modern Weapons Locker. No one should need 170+ pages of weaponry, especially in modern day games. Forgive my tangent... |

Well see, the 170+ pages of weaponry for the D20 Modern Weapons Locker is basically useless, due to the way the d20 system handles damage. Each different weapon entry will just be a description, with maybe one or two special qualities, and then it's just another 1d8 weapon. I quite like Arms & Equipment Guide-styled releases, but they're quite a bit more than just weaponry. There may be new weapons and new armor, but it's all different. |

The game is fine. Not good, just fine. I don't play it that much, as I like magic and D&D way too much to play most anything else, but it's been okay the times I have run it. I didn't really like the Urban Arcana setting that much, but it's worked fairly well for some modern fantasy games I've run. My last experience with d20 modern was horrible, however, and was the catalyst for a group breakup(my nightmare group.). For some reason, the players expected guns to be able to handle everything, and the session degenerated into a screaming argument(no screaming here) when they found an enemy guns couldn't handle. |
