Would it have to be Faerun,or anywhere on Toril?

Courage isn't the lack of fear but rather believing in and doing what you know is right even though fear is present.

Point me in the direction of the fairground and I'd be on that rollercoaster like a shot

Seriously though, no. I like my home comforts too much. Especially plumbing. I don't care what half the adventures I've read say, most people in the Realms don't access to a Throne of Waste Gating or somesuch.

Although I've just had a brilliant idea for what my PC's might find in their newly-acquired portable hole

Well I think whilst we all love the Realms, to actually live in such an environment would be terrible. The odds of being successful and high nobility are quite low and most will probably be farmers struggling to make ends meet or be living in some city squallor. Very few would be adventurers as it very rarely pays off and whilst we are are heroic to some degree when playing D&D, being faced with the simplest of creatures will make you run a mile!!

As for taxes.... well you thought it was bad in real life.... just imagine it in mediaevil times!!!

If I had a good job and could read books on it, I wouldn't go either.Don't kill me,Rad.
Lets see,I would start out in Kara-Tur and work my way as best I could to Waterdeep,I would do more but if I made it that far alive I would settle down to a quiet life.

By all means I would go... though not for the reasons some would assume. For withing Toril I would be given a promise of an afterlife.. my own prospects here are.... bleak at best...

although i party agree, the danger of the Realms seem more apparent, there are some places where life is calm. and think of living here in a bad part of a city where gangs r everywhere n u wake up 2 the sound off gunshots n u just hope its not 1 of ur parents (just so u know im not referring 2 myself im just sooo glad i live in a nice little town out in the country) as 4 being successful, id learn the ways of magic and adventure with a group of friends of other classes, n just travel the land...*sigh* how i wish i could...

If I could be an adventurer then maybe. The realms is constantly plagued by orcs, goblins, and trolls though and who in their right mind would want to live there. The realms is too chaotic for me. You would also lose many modern conviniences such as computers, refridgeration, and modern transportation just to name a few. I would like to visit the realms most defintely but not for a permenant stay.

Well, most of this begs the question: " What is an adventurer?"
It is easily dismissed as " A maniac wielding powers beyond mortal minds and/or wielding a weapon.."
While the comforts of home would be gone... so too would several problems that come with the complicated world we have built for ourselves. Agreed plumbing makes things easier (just a flush and it's gone... like magic ). However, I am far enough north to know that (and this will be a shock to you southerners ), plumbing is only about a generation old here... give or take but out houses were quite common a few decades back (on a side note, plumbing was established by the governement for... cheap housing for the natives of the land... the funny thing is no one told them how it actually worked so they figured it flush to the basement, so outhouses endured for a few years after plumbing...)
Anyways, I came a bit off track here, personally I think an adventurer, I think, is a person who simply would want to make the realms a bit more safer the borders of his farm/kingdom/city etc... whether safer for everyone or just him/herself... well that is open to debate

if i lived on toril, i wouldnt need computers cuz the only time id want 2 use it would be 2 escape from my world and enter the FR...besides 4 homework but i wouldnt have that problem either refrideration, who needs it when u can magicaly keep things cold...transportation who needs it when u can instantly teleport whereever u want, (i know teleportation is a complicated spell but im just using it 4 sake of argument)

I would travel along the Sword Coast and c everything from Nashkell to Baldur's Gate. With long stops at Durlag's Tower, High Hedge, the Ulcaster school, and of course a very long stay at Candlekeep!!! Ahh to sit amidst the wisemen of Candlekeep, read all kinds of lore from everywhere in the realms all within the walls of the great library founded by none other then Alaundo himself...*sigh*

Although I would prefer to perhaps take a few friends/family with me...at the end of the day if it was an now-or-never decision for me alone I would have to say that I would take it - not that I am bored with life in this realm or anything (although I do admittedly sometimes feel that way), I would do it for the completely new and adventurous experience. I would probably study magic and aim to be a mage, or possibly a Paladin...the main problem I would have would be from a Theological perspective - I am a Christian and don't know how that would fit in with FR mythology etc...

It is knowledge that influences and equalizes the social condition of man; that gives to all, however different their political position, passions which are in common, and enjoyments which are universal.

Although i would love being an adventurer, i think that a life of hardship and pain is good for you, i wouldn't mind in the least being a farmer or a lowly soldier.Even being a wandering, drunk, bard whom never has much money would be the life i would chose.

But in truth, its futile talking about escasping the inevitable, there is no way in the nine hells that we could get there.

How i'd love to stalk the wilds of the savage frontier as Correlon's premier ranger, drift into silverymoon for a good nights sleep before descending onto the evermoors for a bought of troll slaying. Then to the city of splendors to plunder Blackstaff's magic item cache before disapearing into undermountain to say hello to Halaster Oh if only...
